It’s officially EOY season, which is when we look back on our drama years, and decide which dramas were worthy of our love, and which dramas we maybe shouldn’t have spent as much time on, as we did. 😁
As before, we’ll be seeing up to 2 guest posts per week, and this will unfold into January 2025, and my annual year-in-review will come out in early 2025, after all the guest posts have been published.
This way, by putting all our experiences together, we get a more wholistic view of Dramaland in 2024. Pretty great, yes? 🤩
If you missed our earlier posts, you can check it out here: Sean, Deni+JJ, Natalia, Ele, j3ffc.
Today, I’m pleased to announce that MC’s sharing her drama year!
MC’s a busy lady, what with working full time, and being a mom, so I’m always grateful that she consistently makes time, not just for dramas, but for all of us friends over on Patreon.
MC doesn’t manage to hang out with us all the time, but when she does, she always brings a great note of cheer and positivity with her, and we all love her for it. 🥰
If you’d like to read more of MC’s writing, you might like to check out her EOY post from last year here, &/or her fun fangirl account of her trip to Korea (fresh from recovering from a broken toe, as I recall! 😱), which you can check out here.
I hope you guys enjoy!

Hi there!
Happy new year and may 2025 be a wonderful year for all of us!
If you’re interested, my full drama origin story can be found here, but the TL;DR version is that in 2013 when I lived with my in-laws, my mother in law was watching those 100+ episode dramas and I’d accompany her… then I found myself drawn into the story and after a while I would watch them with her and discuss shows together.
I took a break after I moved out of their house, but I came back in 2017 (I think) thanks to the hits that are Descendants of the Sun/ Love 020 and Guardian: the Lonely and Great God and I haven’t looked back since.
Looking back at 2024, my realization is:
1. I used to solely watch slice of life and romance/ rom-coms but I think my membership in the <puppies/ unicorns/ sweet and fluffy show club> might be revoked, because I found that I actually do love – gasp – thrillers! And I particularly love crime thrillers.
2. I should just refer to Patreon folks’ recommendations – I watched so many good shows thanks to peoples’ recommendations. I honestly had a great drama year and I’m here to tell you ALL about it!
3. I watched more shows than ever, thanks to the magic of being able to download episodes and watch on the go (the benefits of public transport!)
Do note that I tend to watch a mix of current-year and older shows so my best of 2024 might not be actual 2024 shows…
Ok, let’s cut to the chase, shall we?
The Big One – Best Drama
Let’s start with a bang and award the biggest prize of all, shall we? *drumroll…*
– the winner is… Beyond Evil.
Yup, this is The Very Best Show I Watched in 2024 and possibly in a long time.
I mean, it also won Best Drama in the 57th Baeksang Awards (and so many other awards too!) I knew it would be good, but the synopsis sounded so grim, and the poster looked so intimidating. I’m so glad I did give this show a shot – it ended up stealing my entire heart.
Smartly written without dumbing anything down for the audience, well-paced, great production, masterfully acted, well-paced – not a single moment was wasted.
It started strong and stayed strong all the way which is no mean feat.
Many thrillers tend to err on the cerebral side of things, but this one had my heart too especially when it explored the impact of the deaths/ missing victims on the survivors and the community. While I watched this show early in 2024, I still feel like a Manyang resident…
I do think this show also has great re-watch value, because you want to see the hints they dropped along the way…
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Stranger/ Forest of Secrets season 1 and 2
- Through the Darkness
- Shining for One Thing (I did really enjoy Lovely Runner and it’s similar in some ways to SFOT; I just prefer SFOT over Lovely Runner. Please love Lovely Runner more for me!)
- Regeneration (this was very well done, pity the ending wasn’t as strong (probably for censorship as Natalia says, but the show was generally good!)
Best Actor/ Actress
Do you really need to ask? It has to be Shin Ha Kyun in Beyond Evil.
While the entire cast was great, this could be one of his lifetime performances. He portrayed the eccentric yet deeply tortured sergeant Lee Dong Shik to perfection.
Props also to Yeo Jin Goo, who matched him in intensity and ability as Han Joo Won, just that Shin Ha Kyun is the only winner in this category.
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Jing Bo Ran (Regeneration)
- Kim Nam Gil (Through the Darkness)
- Uhm Tae Goo (My Sweet Mobster)
Best Supporting Actor/ Actress
I’m afraid I’m doing it again, friends. I have to award this to the entire supporting cast of Beyond Evil, in particular Choi Dae Hoon as Park Jeong Je.
When we get to his backstory and he reveals the ghosts he is plagued with…. Very intense stuff.
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Seon Geon Hee (Lovely Runner)
- Lee Joon Hyuk (Stranger/ Forest of Secrets season 1 and 2)
Best OTP
I’ve watched so many great OTPs this year so it was really hard to cut down to just 1… but… this one, hands down, is the winner because it has ALL of love, angst and longing over literal millennia’s.
Friends, my OTP for 2024 could only be our couple from Three Lives, Three Worlds: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms / Eternal Love.
While Bai Qian & Ye Hua were my favourite, their love (be it as Si Yin & Mo Yuan, Susu & Ye Hua) was the stuff of LEGENDS.
While we all love the swoony melt-into-a-puddle moments, I’ve come to understand that truly great romances need the angst to deepen the emotions of the eventual reunion and this show, my friends, brings ALL the angst in spades and then some.
There were moments I was so legit angry I was so close to rage quitting, but Fangirl advised me to hang in there and I’m so glad I did.
Also, this show is not shy about bringing the heat. Whew. This blog has a lot of gifs of some of the swoony scenes – DO NOT open if you haven’t watched the show, as spoilers abound aplenty.
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Lin Bei Xing & Zhang Wansen (Shining for One Thing – another OTP with angst and love, they were my almost best OTP, just that they couldn’t compete with actual millennias in TMoPB!)
- Liu Mian Tang & Cui Xingzhou (Are You The One – a great pairing of equals, after you get over the initial gaslighting which is the set up for the story)
- And if you prefer less angsty loves, I really liked our sweet wholesome Tu Xiao Ning & Ji Yu Heng in You Are My Secret
Could it have been Beyond Evil:
I know you must be thinking “Omg, are you for real…” – no, I can’t, I’m sorry.
While there’s no romance in Beyond Evil, I would say that the chemistry between Lee Dong Shik and Han Joo Won was really electrifying. And they were pretty obsessed with each other anyway 😀 which eventually matured to such a deep partnership and bromance.
I actually also liked the very extremely subtle connection between Jae Yi and Joo Won.
Not Beyond Evil, but another one with great bromance was Through the Darkness’ Song Ha Yeong and Kook Yeong Soo.
Best Villain
I have 2 winners in this category:
1. Su Jin in Three Lives, Three Worlds: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms / Eternal Love. IYKYK… and if you don’t know, she does many terrible things but there was this ONE unforgiveable thing she did.
I won’t say more to avoid spoilers but just thinking of it makes my blood boil!
(she looks calm here… DON’T BE DECEIVED)
2. All the killers in Through the Darkness. Because the show is both an investigative process & a deep dive into criminal profiling, they do feature our killers. Some of them have sad backstories and some were plain evil.
Could it have been Beyond Evil:
Yes, what the killer did was pretty heinous. I won’t say more!
Best Twist
I watched many thrillers this year so there were many twists, but the very best twist was when a particular something happens in Regeneration.
I won’t tell you what it is, or when it happens, to avoid spoilers, but let’s just say that I was watching it in bed and when THAT thing happened, I screamed out loud in my room.
And I’m not the screaming sort – if I’m afraid I’m more likely to freeze than to flee. Then I had to calm myself down with some cute videos so I could sleep!
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Stranger/ Forest of Secrets 1 and 2 had some incredible twists!
- I liked an early twist in When the Phone Rings, too.
Could it have been Beyond Evil:
Of course – there were so many twists in the show. I just didn’t award it to Beyond Evil so that you guys wouldn’t come after me. Haha!
Best OST
I really loved the OSTs for Lovely Runner and Queen of Tears. I didn’t finish QoT (I know right, gasp!) but both had fantastic OSTs that amplified the feels.
Special Mentions/ Almost Winners:
- Shining for One Thing. While I wasn’t a fan of the way the English words were weaved into the songs on the OST, I must give a shoutout to SFOT, where the songs were performed by a female and a male artiste with lyrics designed specifically for the characters which gives a weight to the scenes.
Could it have been Beyond Evil:
I actually really like Timeless by BIBI and Empty by Car, The Garden… ok, ok, I’ll stop here.
Best Ensemble
This one HAS to go to the sweet Deerling gang in My Sweet Mobster.
I really loved the Deerlings even if they did such silly things. While the OTP was so sweet, seeing how FL became part of their family was icing on the cake.
They also had this series of adorable “click like and subscribe” woven into each episode – here’s a compilation of these scenes!
And extra points to the production team for dressing their dog up!
Could it be Beyond Evil?
Apparently, the woman cannot be stopped! Yes, for all the Manyang residents…
Underrated Gem
I honestly really, really, loved Seoul Busters.
I was first drawn to the nonstop gags in the first episode and was mildly disappointed by the slowing down of gags as they settled into the crime solving proper.
This is not a perfect show by far – the tonal shifts between funny jokes and (more) serious crime investigation was a bit too abrupt, and some people online didn’t like the sentimental parts.
But I came to love this charming Violent Crimes team 2 filled with silly yet earnest teammates.
And Captain Dongbang Yubin was a great team leader – encouraging individual members, standing up for his team with management, but firmly disciplining members when they did wrong things. I also loved how they showed his thought processes at crime scenes.
I wished there was a love line between Captain and Seo Minseo but I was happy with how things worked out.
This show worked out to be a comfort watch – you know they would eventually solve it, while being funny and silly along the way. I could watch another 20 episodes of this team working together.
It seems like I recommend a Singaporean movie every year and this year is no different. Wonderland was a 2023 Singapore movie (but since when have I ever been stopped by year of release? :D)
I’ve been recommending this show to everyone I know including you, dear reader. (it’s on Netflix Singapore- may not be available to you, but I hope it is!)
If you’ve ever wondered about Singapore life, especially in the 80s (and you know that most of us Singaporeans do not live the Crazy Rich Asian life), you can get a glimpse of it here.
This show is set in 1989 and the title refers to an amusement park that was demolished in 1989 (kinda reflecting our main characters’ lives).
The show is about an illiterate old man who enlists his neighbour’s help to write letters to his daughter who is studying in the US but its really about love – family, parental, friendships in old age and community kinship, the lies we tell in the name of love, ageing and loneliness.
I’ll admit it made me cry a lot but it’s the good kind of tears, you know? If you do have access to it, do give it a try.
Could it be Beyond Evil?
I’ll give you guys a break – NO, because Beyond Evil is quite well known for being good. HAHA!
Razzie
This one’s quite easy – the crowning champ would be The Impossible Heir for its terrible writing. I wrote an entire rant post about it! You can read it here.
On top of my rant, I’m also sad to nominate Blood Free for this award.
This one is honestly such a pity, it had such interesting things to say. It felt like it was meant to be a 16-ep show and the writer had planned out a coherent story for 16 eps. Then someone decided to chop it to a 10-ep show and the writer had to scramble to try to end things… and it showed.
The last two episodes were basically a mess. I hope there’ll be a season 2, just to wrap things up properly, but I’m not holding my breath for it.
OK folks that’s finally all, I hope you enjoyed this!
I apologise if you don’t like / didn’t watch Beyond Evil though 😀
If you’re interested, I have listed all the shows I watched/ tried to watch below – feel free to ask me/ share with me your thoughts on any of these shows, as well as your thoughts on my awards. Or just chat with me on anything.
Once again, have a wonderful year ahead! And as always, thank you Fangirl for sharing this space with us 😊
Signing off
~MC

I’m just now having a chance to read EOY posts and I’m so happy I read yours, MC! I 100% agree with your opinion of Beyond Evil. My mouth dropped open in surprise and awe every episode. And the hotness in Eternal Love was fantastic! Here’s to a great 2025 drama viewing year!
hello! you probably may miss this because i didn’t think to come here to check for comments, lol. i’m glad you agree with me! Beyond Evil is really … beyond compare haha. so twisty and smart yet so full of heart AND fantastic acting and directing? check, check and check!
“the hotness in Eternal Love” yes indeed, some moments definitely felt NSFW!!! Mark Chao kisses like he means it AHEM.
yes may 2025 be a wonderful year for us!
Hello MC
I finally get to comment on your EOY post. Apologies for the late reply but then again better late than never.
I guess 2024 for you could easily be renamed as “Year of Beyond Evil”. Looks like the drama really brought out a “new MC” in you. Good for you and happy to know that “thrillers” indeed entice you now. I really enjoyed reading through all your love and appreciation for this drama and whenever I get to see it – I will remember you and keep you updated.
I also noted your good words for My Sweet Mobster and Lovely Runner. Also you seem to have really enjoyed Stranger and good to know that.
Now on the drama that you indeed ended up liking: Through the Darkness.
Tbh Martina was the first one to bring this to our attention through her EOY post and then I ended up watching it in my “KNG Phase”. I am glad that this drama recommendation lived up to your expectations and it is indeed a thought-provoking drama. As you rightly mentioned the evil guys were really “evil” and KNG did a fantastic job (actually his acting in here is very much against his usual acting forte). And thanks for mentioning that team bromance between Kook Young-soo and Song Ha-yeong – especially special props for Kook Young-soo for putting together that mazing team.
You have an amazing drama year ahead and catch up with you more in Patreon.
P Jasmine – yes Beyond Evil was definitely drama of the year for me. i wonder what 2025 will bring for us! yes Stranger was really great, both s1 and 2. s1 is more loved but s2 also had important messages to tell.
im so very glad i watched Through the Darkness for KNG who i will now look out for, on the strength of his incredible talent! and they had a fantastic bromance, i really enjoyed it.
may 2025 be good to us!
MC! Happy new year!
I just love your love of Beyond Evil!! (although, ahem, I actually hate watched it myself, ahem).
And I am at awe at how you managed to watch The Impossible Heir…
All things considered, you watched more shows than I did, dear. I just have a longer list because I am free of completion-anxiety.
And now I will high-jack your EOY post to tell everyone, guys, do take a look at Regeneration – you are not going to regret it!
May 2025 bring you the best watches, MC!
i’m super late but thanks Natalia! Yes Regeneration was so awesome. i don’t know how i watched Impossible Heir to the bitter end. morbid curiosity i guess!
have a wonderful 2025!
@MC – LOVE your year in review. Beyond Evil was a drama I watched back in late May/June when I saw that Netflix US as dropping it and I wasn’t disappointed. I would put it in the top 5 of dramas I’ve watched in my short time as a k-drama addict. It was excellent all around and Shin Ha-Kyun was awesome. Watching that drama also cured me of my dislike of Yeo Jin Goo (caused by Hotel del Luna)…he was excellent as well. I also love that you picked the My Sweet Mobster gang…they were wonderful, probably the best thing in that drama aside from Um Tae Goo (the OTP was kinda meh for me). Happy 2025!!
Haha thanks for enjoying this! Beyond Evil is so great isn’t it? i listened to the OST again and it was SO good.
i don’t dislike Yeo Jin Goo but i hear he’s better at dramatic roles than romantic roles!
the Sweet Monster deerlings are the best and i will not hear a word against them! i did like the OTP but mainly for UTG’s cuteness when in love.
happy 2025 to you too 🙂
My dislike of Yeo Jin Goo in Hotel del Luna also kept me from watching Beyond Evil. I was very pleasantly surprised to see what a great actor he was!
Oh @MC Ten Miles of Peach Blossom!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE that show. I mean, it’s like one of the few I gave my A** rating to. Mark Chao is tremendous in it. You know when that lantern thing-y breaks and he breaks and well, my heart truly broke too 😭 Honestly, he is such a good actor.
And EEEEEE, Stranger 1 and 2!!! I really liked Stranger 1 but Stranger 2 took a while for me to get into, but once there, I was super-invested. So worried how it would end for Lee Jun-hyuk’s character to the point where it kept me awake at night!!
And OOOH, yes, Shining for One Thing is pretty good. I love those kind of fantastical stories.
Now, Beyond Evil… Like Deni, I bailed after two episodes. It was too gruesome for me and I hated not knowing if the lead was a twisted psychopath so looked up Kfangurl’s review and thought, having read that, I would find the whole thing too disturbing and stressful!
Thanks for the lovely review – I always enjoy reliving Ten Miles of Peach Blossom!! xxx
ELE! i knew you’d LOVE that mention of TMoPB. i was so obsessed when i watched it. i was screaming cursing crying and feeling ALL of the feels throughout the entire show and it kept me hooked all the way (very impressive for someone who likes sheiter shows due to a lack of time).
and after it i couldn’t watch any romance shows for a while cos i was utterly ruined by Bai Qian Ye Hua so i turned to thrillers. hahaha. Mark Chao was SO good – yes that lantern scene my heart broke too. might have shed some tears too, hahaha.
Stranger 2 – i knew Lee Joon Hyuk would make it but it still kept me up in suspense! if i hadn’t known, i think i wouldn’t be able to sleep. Stranger 2 was a bit meh when things felt disconnected but when it all clicked i was like AHH here’s this writer and her masterly ways!
Shining for One Thing also broke my heart. it started as a sweet do over but it became such an epic love story. and that OST!
ahh yes Beyond Evil isn’t everyone’s cup of tea! it is rather dark (literally.. many night and dark scenes) as well as twisted psychopaths and dead bodies. weirdly i can deal with that, but can’t deal with horror/ creepy shows! i’m weird that way..
you can always look for me anytime you want more TMoPB squeeing!!
Hehem… SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! xxx
Fun reviews ..thanks..
So cool that you liked Seoul Busters..it hit my silly bone hard. My very first K Drama was Stranger ..still a very high bar (Forest2 good also).
I’ll check out your recs .. those killers look tough. I see you dropped Trunk..sad.
Happy New Year
@maj – My first K-drama was Stranger, too. Starts can’t get better than that.
hello!!! happy new year to you too! it’s not too late, i hope!
i LOVED Seoul Busters SO much! they became my fun, adorable, charming, comfort watch. you know nothing seriously bad will happen to them and their silly antics made me smile all the time. i wish there would be a season 2, just to watch more of them – although i doubt it will happen, sadly.
stranger was your first show – that is a very high bar!! mine was a silly c drama then Descendants of the Sun.
yes if you like serial killers and whatnot, i’d be happy to recommend some. i’ve come to enjoy crime thriller shows!
yeah sadly the Trunk was just too dysfunctional and creepy for me. but i hope you like it!
@MC so a fun review with a different twist. We managed 4 episodes of Beyond Evil and decided we are just two wimps over here and bailed. I despised the serial killer line in Lovely Runner and barely got through While You Were Sleeping.
Isn’t the OST for Queen of Tears something special? So many tracks I love and I didn’t even watch the drama.
Seoul Busters was a very fun enjoyable watch for us. Totally our style-good humor (a bit too much potty humor, again) with heart and great teamwork and character development.
Best Ensemble-thank you for that reminder of what a crazy group of men inhabited that space and made it a warm caring place with acceptance and 2nd chances. And the dog. The show was clever in finding little ways to insert comedy without smacking you with it.
Chicken Nugget-I could hardly stay awake which is not a normal problem.
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale is not available for me but keeping my eyes open.
Thanks for the fun review. I also read about your trip to Korea! So jealous. On my bucket list for sure.
I’m so late to reply you but here I am now – thank you for enjoying this! Oh yes Beyond Evil is a full out thriller/ serial murder show, so I can understand why it’s not for everyone. Please enjoy all the light and fluffy shows – I did for many years before trying out thrillers!
I confess I couldn’t finish While You Were Sleeping because it felt too similar to I Hear Your Voice, which I love. Yes! QoT had an incredible, incredible OST.
Seoul Busters – as you said, it had too much potty humour for me too but alot of the gags were incredibly funny and most of all I loved the team. I wish there was a season 2, I could watch so much more of them being silly and lovable.
Sweet Mobster had THE BEST ensemble! And that dog!!! The very best!
Hahha. Chicken Nugget sure was weird…. I did finish it and didn’t regret watching it but it’s definitely not my usual. Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale is silly and cute so if you ever have access, it’s not bad.
Oh yes!! Do go to Korea someday! It was such fun even though I didn’t go to the drama sites because my friends aren’t big on Kdramas. I think you’d love it even more if you did go!
@MC – Fantastic post. Thank you.
Wow. I really didn’t think you enjoyed Beyond Evil to that extent. It was my second drama after Stranger and Shin Ha Kyun was stellar in it. I have a massive, and I mean truly massive soft spot for Stranger and it was so overwhelmingly impactful that Beyond Evil didn’t hit the same heights for me personally. Still, they’re both up there.
So happy that you gave a separate shout-out to Seoul Busters. I also enjoyed the show a LOT. I don’t think I’ve laughed so much watching any other drama. It was one of the highlights of the second half of 2024 for me.
I’m also planning to check out Are You the One and Eternal Love so glad that both OTPs are great. You Are My Secret was such a pleasant watch.
Also nice that you gave a mention to the Queen of Tears OST. Even though you dropped the show, the OST is undeniably excellent.
And Through the Darkness was also such a memorable watch with Kim Nam Gil at the helm.
Since you liked so many mystery thrillers, I’d like to recommend a few. Nobody Knows starring Kim Seo Hyung (More elusive in my region but MDL states that it is on Viki and Kocowa), Wonderful World starring Kim Nam Joo (This one was on Disney+ for me) and Beautiful World (This one is on Netflix). I wrote about Nobody Knows in my previous EOY post. The other two are some of my highlights from 2024.
Wish you a wonderful 2025. 😊
Again I’m also late to this! But better late than never eh? Haha yes I truly loved LOVED Beyond Evil. I also love Stranger, just that I had watched S1 in the past and I love BE a bit more than S2. But they’re both up there for me, as you say.
Yes Seoul Busters! I’m so glad my good review got a couple of Patreons to watch and enjoy it. It kinda flew under the radar but it’d be a pity to miss it.
Kim Nam Gil was SO GOOD in Through the Darkness which is also a very excellent show. It wasnt the easiest of watches, but so very worth the time.
The QoT and Lovely Runner OSTs are excellent!
Thank you for the recommendations! I have written them down. I think you watched Mouse – how was it? It’s also commonly recommended so I’m curious.
WIshing you a great 2025 too!
@MC – No problem. Oh! That’s what happened. In that case, it’s understandable.
Seoul Busters – It certainly gave me incentive to pick it up, and I’m grateful for that. My brother and I loved it to bits.
Through the Darkness – Indeed he was. I also thought his friend was pretty excellent, too. It was just solid all around.
Yes. 🙂
You’re welcome. Oh! Yes, I did watch Mouse too. Lee Seung Gi was simply stellar. It was my first time seeing him in a lead role. Mouse is not for the fainthearted. There are so many murders throughout the series, and it is brutal. But if you enjoy a psychological mystery thriller, then it is worth your time. The episodes are super long, and it won’t be easy to watch. But this is a show I’ve been trying to watch ever since I first got into K-dramas. You have to pay a lot of attention to detail, since there is so much going on. As each layer of the mystery is peeled off in every episode, you’ll be wowed. I found that it wasn’t easy to get attached to the characters, which is why I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to.
Thank you. 🙂
MC- great EOY review! As much as I have pushed this one away – Beyond Evil – your write up is enough for me to try this. So many good things have been written abut this drama, but your reaction to your watch intrigued me. I am going to try this – I may chicken out quickly, but I will try!
ph1rxd – OH DO TRY IT! I mean, it’s totally ok to bail out if it’s too much or not your thing but it’s so very worth the time, if you can get into it, just very excellently done all around (acting directing writing). If you do watch it, let me know what you think of it!
@MC, FANTASTIC WRITE-UP and what a great drama year. Your post has inspired me to being a new rule/practice/way of life: I resolve, henceforth going forward, to watch every KFG Patreon’s top shoe in the first half of the new year.
So….think I should check out Beyond Evil? ‘tho I kinda want to watch Wonderland, too (looks like it’s on US Netflix, too).
Thank you for sharing your drama year with us! I’ll check in once I’ve seen BE….
I’m also so late to replying but yes! It was a great great drama year. Hahah! You should try out everyone’s top shows and let us know how the experiment goes!
Beyond Evil is very good but it’s also full on thriller serial murders etc, so might not be everyone’s cup of tea. But if you do like it, it was VERY WELL DONE.
And WONDERLAND YES just give 2hrs of your life to check it out. Or give it a few minutes to see if it works for you. It won some film festival awards overseas too, so hopefully that is a testament to its quality?
Yes, let me know how you find BE once you get to it!
@MC – WOW!!! You did get to watch so many Shows last year!!! YAY for public transport!!! So happy for you 🙂
And I totally think Beyond Evil is perfect viewing for the puppies/unicorns/rainbow club because its ALL heart with the team 🐶🦄🌈❤️ I fell for Beyond Evil, too, and for OTP Bromance if we can call it that. It was a tough watch in some parts for sure, but I hung in there, too, and I would so do a rewatch 🐶🦄🌈❤️
You go ahead and give every away to Beyond Evil. Totally deserves it and then some.
I gotta get to Ten Miles..Peach Blossom! I keep forgetting. Argh.
I love you highlighting Shining for One Thing. If any Show made me want to know Mandarin badly, it was that Show for sure. That writing team did so much with its use of language and those lyrics and their names, all of it. And then Wansen,,,,sigh. 🐶🦄🌈❤️
Seoul Busters is on my radar!!! Thank you 🙂
Loved your post so much! So glad you had time to write one for us to thoroughly enjoy 🐶🦄🌈❤️
May you have a wonderful 2025 of More Drama viewing 🐶🦄🌈❤️
JJ – If you could handle Beyond Evil I may be able to as well. I am going to try!
@phl1rxd – Yes, I made it through, I think once again Trent gave me some heads up(thanks, Trent!), but there is one scene I absolutely must warn you about thats very disturbing. Other than that I found it much easier than Through the Darkness.
phl1rxd- i think you can take it! give it a go and if it doesn’t work, drop it!
JJ – Serial killers. Nope and then again on second consideration, no. We dropped it episode 4. Just can’t. I really wanted to watch this too. Such great comments all around and MC’s review is so awesome.
I’m so late in replying! WHoops! I love all your replies JJ, full of emojis – unmistakably you! Yes, I did manage to watch more shows than ever which is a huge feat for me. And plus point – when I have to travel to our other office which is about 1.5hs travel time, my colleagues will grumble but I don’t mind coz it’s my drama time! Haha!
OH yes the puppies rainbows unicorn club, if they can get over the inherent darkness of a thriller murder show, would appreciate the heart and the camaderie amongst the Manyang residents and the focus on the victims’ families! It was hard but SO WORTH IT. I would so do a rewatch too, if I had the time, just to see where they dropped clues along the way….
Yes watch Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, it’s an epic journey and such an OG show! I loved it but I also got very angry at times, fair warning.
SHINING FOR ONE THING! It absolutely stole my heart. WANSEN!!! Yes, knowing Mandarin enhanced my knowledge of what was happening but it was just so emotionally rich that anyone would be able to access it. Sadly it made Lovely Runner pale in comparison. I mean I really did like LR, just that the twist of fate that connected them was just more…. epic (?) in SFOT!
YES check out Seoul Busters when you don’t mind a lot of K humour with a lot of heart!
Have a wonderful 2025!!!!
