Repost: A Short History of the KDrama Industry – A podcast by Dramas Over Flowers

Image borrowed from Dramas Over Flowers, of course. 😁

You guys. You know I don’t often repost anything, right?

In fact, this is only my second repost in more than 11 years of blogging, the first being 3 whole years ago, which was when my friends Saya, Anisa and Paroma, who are the the voices, hearts and brains behind the Dramas Over Flowers podcast, did a deep-dive into the issue of bullying in Korea (you can check that out here!).

This time, Saya, Anisa and Paroma, whom you may recognize from their work on Dramabeans, did a fantastic deep-dive podcast episode on the the history of Korean dramas (this is part 1, with part 2 in the works as I type this!).

To give you more context around how special I think this episode is, I knew, at just the 11-minute mark, that this would be a fantastic episode, that would be illuminating and interesting, not only to the kdrama newbie, but to more seasoned watchers as well.

I texted Paroma right away, she gave me the go-ahead, and here we are! 🤩 Put it on while you’re in the car, on the train, on the treadmill, or walking your dog – you won’t be sorry, I promise! 😉

Podcast: I chat about Someday Or One Day with the DOF ladies!

Hey everyone! Guess what? I got a chance to be a guest on the Dramas Over Flowers podcast again!

Unlike my first guest spot on the podcast (which you can find here, if you missed it!), I don’t talk all about myself in this episode. 😁

Instead, Saya, Anisa, Paroma and I chat about Someday Or One Day, which, as you might know, is a drama that I loved (you can find my review of the show here, and our Open Thread discussions are listed here).

I had a lot of fun recording this with the ladies, and you can listen to it right here!

Podcast: I chat the last 3 episodes of Squid Game with Anisa from Dramas Over Flowers!

Hey everyone! Guess what? I got a chance to be a guest on the Dramas Over Flowers podcast again!

Unlike my first guest spot on the podcast (which you can find here, if you missed it!), I don’t talk all about myself in this episode. 😅

Instead, Anisa and I chat about the last 3 episodes of Squid Game (you can find my review of the show here, and you can also check out my take on why Squid Game is so popular here).

I had a lot of fun recording this one (it’s much shorter than the other podcast, I promise!), and you can listen to it right here!

So I’m On A Podcast!

Yep, my friends, you read that right: I’m on a podcast! Whee~!

Y’know, I’d actually wanted to work in the phrase “You can hear my voice” somewhere in this post’s title, coz I thought it was such a funny pun, being a mash-up of drama titles “Can You Hear My Heart?” and “I Hear Your Voice

but, I decided against it coz it is kinda obtuse, and if someone’s not in on the joke, I’d just sound like a pompous fool, wouldn’t I? 😆

ANYWAY. I got to be a guest on the Dramas Over Flowers podcast (you might remember the ladies from the excellent episode on bullying, that I shared previously), and you can listen to it right here!

Repost: Deep-diving into the bullying issue – A podcast by Dramas Over Flowers

Image borrowed from Dramas Over Flowers, of course 😉

Welcome to my first ever repost, in over 8 years of blogging, everyone! 🤩 Just by that fact alone, you can imagine that the original post must be very special indeed, to galvanize me into reposting it, yes? 😉

My friends Saya, Anisa and Paroma, whom you may recognize from their work on Dramabeans, and who are the ladies behind Dramas Over Flowers, recently did a fantastic deep-dive podcast episode on the issue of bullying in Korea.

They interview Professor CedarBough Saeji, who is a professor of Korean Studies, and who has lived and taught in Korea for many years, and the resulting conversation is both thoughtful and thought-provoking, as they explore the multiple factors at play in this issue which has been grabbing a great deal of media attention of late.

I noticed that quite a few of you had questions and thoughts about the bullying issue when I posted my thoughts on Ji Soo’s fall from grace, so I thought this would be a great follow-up.
