Hi Fangurl,
After finishing “Black Knight”, I was going to recommend the kdrama to you & your fans, but changed my mind following the ending. The series started out beautifully where the first two episodes are filmed in Slovenia. Having visited Slovenia and again seeing these locations brought me back to this beautiful country in the Austrian Alps & Lake Bled.
I am a huge fan of Kim Rae Won, first seeing him in “Doctors”. He is a very multitalented actor and has this magnificent smile. His leading lady, Shin Se-kyung was the just right co-leading actress, great chemistry together.
It isn’t until the 5th. Episode when the puzzle of the story starts to come together. But towards the end of the series, it started getting a little bizarre and by the end, I was glad it was over. I’m not sure why the writers chose to end the story as such? On a positive note, the women’s clothing was stunning, whoever chose the wardrobe did a fantastic job.
Cheers & looking forward to finding more kdramas on Viki.
Carol
Hi Carol,
I haven’t seen Black Knight myself, but I did hear that it was kind of bizarre. Sorry that didn’t work out so well for you, but yes, cheers to finding more good dramas! 😀
Hi Fangirl, While vacationing in Paris, France last week I had access in our B ‘n B apartment to Netflix and found a kdrama shortly before I had to fly back to the USA. I hadn’t seen this listed before on my home Netflix and because it was a 20 episode series I couldn’t finish it prior to my leaving & downloaded the series on my iPad for the 10 hr. flight home. I consumed as much as I could of the episodes, but upon landing, I still had 4 more episodes to watch. After arriving back home, I tried to finish the series but evidently because this series isn’t available in California, I couldn’t continue the series. The series is “Doctors” & I absolutely loved it. I read your review trying to figure out the ending but you had only given the drama a C+ due to the medical content. My career of almost 40 years was in the medical field and I worked as a surgical tech for a short period. The neuro surgery was so interesting to watch & at times was well done. Now I have to find a site where I can watch the remaining episodes, any suggestions?
Carol
P.S. For those traveling on long flights, great way to spend your time watching a series or movie on a iPad instead of the movies the airline offers their passengers.
Hi Carol, yes, I absolutely agree that a good drama is a great way to spend your time inflight, versus watching multiple movies back to back! If you don’t mind a site with ads, you can possibly finish watching Doctors here. I hope that works for ya! 🙂
Thank you kfangurl for your reply. I took the plunge & signed up for Ruku Viki to finish “Doctors” which I thoroughly enjoyed. I thought instead of just having access to Kdramas via Netflix I needed to subscribe to another medium for more of a variety. I don’t understand why certain kdramas are not licensed to play in certain areas, especially when these films are several years old?
Regards, Carol Shibuya
Ah, I’m glad you managed to finish the show, Carol! And yes, it does make sense to have another kdrama source for variety. It’s unfortunate, but not all platforms acquire all titles, so you do have to spread your feelers a little bit, when it comes to getting a good range of dramas on your plate. 🙂

Hi there, thanks for reaching out 🙂 I just visited your site and it looks great. I’m sorry to say, however, that I don’t think I have the bandwidth to contribute content while still running this site. Thanks for the invitation though, and I wish you guys all the best! 🙂
Hi, can you tell me who is the girl and drama in the wallpaper https://thefangirlverdict.com/index/all-reviews/full-list-of-shows/
Hi there swongy, I’m sorry that I’m unable to help you at the moment, because the banners rotate on a random basis, so I do not know which banner you saw. If you could describe it to me, ie, what the banner looks like, what you remember from it, I could maybe answer your question then! 🙂
I MISS Dramafever! I have viki.com but it sometimes does not have titles I want to see. Do you know other sites I could subscribe to for K-dramas? Help!!!!!
Hi there Ann! I fee you; lots of drama fans have said the same thing, that the loss of Dramafever has disrupted their drama viewing in a big way. You may want to check out Kocowa and Netflix. I hear that Netflix is slowly increasing the range of kdramas that it offers, so hopefully that will help to make up for what you lost via Dramafever. I hope this helps! 🙂
I know this kdrama was shown in 2017, but I hope you would review Chicago Typewriter. Just like a lot of people who was hesitant to watch it initially, probably because of the title and the plot which was during the Japanese occupation, once you started the first episode, you are hooked. The plot is so unlike any stories and all 3 leads are so amazing, esp. Go Kyun Pio. I think he has the best line in the series.
Hi Jocelyn, thanks for the suggestion. 🙂 I do actually have plans to check out Chicago Typewriter with a friend, so let me get that sorted, and hopefully there will be a CT review on the site in the not TOO distant future! 🙂
Fangirl- sigh! I just finished an absolute gem and want to recommend it to you and any others who might have missed it – hello monster – after healer and moonlight over the clouds this is one serial I watched every frame!!!
Key is not to read anything about the series before watching…..a++
Thanks for the recommendation Vela! 🙂 I’ve got Hello Monster on my list, but haven’t gotten around to checking it out coz it’s not my usual style of drama. I will check it out tho! 🙂
I just discovered your site and I love all your reviews!! I was convinced to watch Prison Playbook through your review, and loved it. 99% of the reviews I read from you are dramas I already watched (is that weird?) . I would LOVE for you to do Come and Hug Me if you haven’t already (can’t seem to find it). It was an amazing drama. Blew my mind away.
Hi there SiliconValleyGurl! 🙂 I’m glad you’re enjoying the reviews, and I’m stoked that you allowed me to persuade you to give Prison Playbook a chance! 😀 Yay that you loved it too! <3 As for Come and Hug Me, I haven't checked it out yet. It appears to be pretty heavy melo, and I'm not sure if I'm quite in the mood at the moment. But I've got it on my list for at least some toe-dipping later. 😉
Hi there!
I really, really enjoy reading your reviews. School’s almost about to start and I really want to binge watch some new kdramas before stress hits me again because of school. I have watched Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Love in the Moonlight, Five Enough, Goblin, While You Were Sleeping, Descendants of the Sun, Strong Woman, Tempted (The Great Seducer), Fight My Way, She Was Pretty, and My Secret Romance. Since I know you’re the kdrama “queen”, please give me a top 10 must watch list, I’m very stumped on what to watch right now. Thank you so much! 🙂
Hello Vee, welcome to the blog! 🙂
Based on what you’ve seen, here are some dramas that I liked, which I think are worth checking out, in no particular order:
1. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
2. Splash Splash Love
3. Father Is Strange
4. A Love So Beautiful (Chinese drama, super cute)
5. I’m Not A Robot
6. Are You Human Too?
7. Answer Me 1988
8. Age Of Youth
9. Lingerie Girls’ Generation (Girls Generation 1979)
10. School 2013
You can find my reviews for all of those shows on this page. I hope that helps! 🙂
Thank you so much for replying! I will definitely check out your list 🙂
Also I loveee your reviews so much, they’re detailed and well-explained. Keep doing what you’re doing! (lowkey ur biggest fan haha)
Aw, thanks for the support! <3 I hope you'll enjoy the drama suggestions, I personally really enjoyed all of those shows. 🙂
Is there any way to find out when or WHETHER Ji Chang Wook’s drama made in China (at first it was called “Male God” then later “Mr. Right”) in which he plays twins will be released? Before it could be shown, their stupid government clamped down on some Korean things in some diplomatic or trade dispute. It was made after “Healer” and I think before “Whirlwind Girl 2” (which was shown on Viki). There were some interviews or press releases about it before it was finished and then—-Nothing! His agency then was Glorious Entertainment. —from Ann, longing to see him in something new, after watching ALL his dramas several times each.
Hi there Ann. I poked around online, and I get the impression that it will be released eventually, but no word on a firm air date. Some say 2020, but let’s hope that it gets an earlier broadcast than that. 🙂
Thanks so much for checking and giving me some hope!
You’re very welcome, Ann! 🙂
Hi, kfangurl, just wanna drop by and tell you that, you’re my favourite K-drama reviewer on the net, for the way you structure your review and how you write it with a way that makes it easy for people to understand and see for themselves the good and bad of a drama. And I hope that you will always enjoy what you’re doing now and keep writing good review!
Aw, thank you baleinek! 😀 That is truly one of the sweetest comments I’ve received. It’s so encouraging to know that the reviews are appreciated and that you find them helpful! Thank you for taking the time to write it! <3 I'm honored to be your favorite kdrama reviewer. 😇 I hope we can chat dramas for a long time! 😘
Hello Fangirlverdict!
I’m not sure if this has already been recommended but if you’re looking for a short kdrama I would recommend ‘You drive me crazy’. It’s 4 episodes long and Kim Sun Ho is in it! He’s from the strongest deliveryman and I think it’s short and sweet, a really light watch if you’ve got around 2 hours to spare. Def a worthwhile one to check out and I’d love to hear what you think about it if you ever get ’round to it <3
Thanks for putting out such awesome, detailed reviews. <3
Hi there ladyaliciaaa, thanks for the recommendation! 😀 I’d missed that one – sooo many dramas to keep track of, and not enough time! 😛 I’ve put it on my list, and will check it out, hopefully sooner than later! 😉
PS: Thanks for enjoying the reviews, that makes me happy 🙂
I dont know if you would be able to read this or even pay attention to it but i would like to commend both of you for such brilliant, detailed and well written reviews of various dramas. This review page has been my guide in my quest to watch and look for outstanding korean dramas aside from that after i watch the dramas most of the time the things that i would not be able to express in words is usually written in various reviews already though i do have some personal oppinion also which at times would also differ from your perspective. Thank you so much. Before i end this i would like to recommend and even beg lol for anyone of you to please watch queen seon deok huhu for me it was one of the greatest korean dramas ever created and i would love to hear its review from you. This drama was the first i watched and geez until now it still is on top of my lists huhu please watch it. Thank you once again
Hi there karl! Thank you so much for your kind encouragement! It’s so great to know that you’ve been enjoying the reviews, and that you’ve found them helpful! 😀 I hope you continue to enjoy the reviews for a long time to come <3 Thanks for the recommendation on Queen Seon Deok. I've had a number of folks recommend that to me, so perhaps it's time for me to actually put it on my list. I admit I'm rather intimidated by the length (62 eps!), but if it's amazing, I'm sure I won't mind the length at all 😉 I'd say don't hold your breath, coz it might take me a while to actually start watching – and then get through the whole thing! But, hopefully sooner than later? <3
My pleasure you deserve as much credit for such an amazing work. No worries i do understand that you also have a lot on your list already and that the length is really quite intimidating. In as much as you have loved well written lengthy dramas as father is strange(which i am watching now made me laugh so hard ep17 bidet hahahaha) i strongly believe that you might just love its gripping plot also hehe. When I watched the 1st episode with mom we ended up having a marathon for 3 days with only meals as breaks and sleeping as much as 2 hrs per day lol. In any case i will look forward for your review on it but just take your time i believe youre also a busy person. Thank you so much once again for sharing your expertise you can actually make a career out of this hahahaha.
Aw, thank you, that is so nice of you to say! Although, I am not sure yet about whether this would be a viable way to earn an income! 😅 Maybe someday soonish, I hope! Also, wow, that you and your mom marathoned such a long show over just 3 days! That’s serious dedication! I’m sure you guys must’ve really loved the show, to have inhaled it so quickly. That does make me more curious to see how I respond to the show. So I shall dip my toes in sometime soonish, to see if I end up loving it as much as you did! 😉
Would you make a list of your MUST WATCH dramas? Many thanks!!
Hi there G! Thanks for asking! You can look at this list of my favorites.. but again, I haven’t added any updates to that page in a while, and since I’m discovering new favorites regularly, it would probably be more helpful for you to look at my Full List of shows that I’ve written about. And here’s an overview of my rating system, just to make the grading system clearer 🙂 I’d count all my A rated shows as must-sees. I hope that helps! 🙂
Awhh I seriously love this account. It totally tells me what shows are out there and what shows are truly worth watching, so I thank you for that. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that you should totally watch “Lady in Dignity.” It just came out each year and for me, personally, I was hooked from episode one. Additionally, I don’t know if you’ve watched this but Hana yori dango (or Boys over flowers) is another drama that kept me entertained from episode one as well. Personally, i preferred the japanese ver. as the chemistry was truly there, the Korean was a lil more dry. but for real, you should totally watch those two dramas! i really wanna know your opinion on them! 🙂 have a great day!
Hi there Julie, thanks for the love! <3 I have watched both Hana Yori Dango and BOF, and I agree that the Japanese version was better. That was before I started the blog though, so that's a big reason why there's no review for either show on this site – although I am also admittedly not able to write about every single drama I watch even right now. Thanks for the suggestion on Lady In Dignity, I do enjoy Kim Hee Sun and Kim Sun Ah, so I'm happy to add that to my list! 🙂
Hi Fangirl!
Sorry, for bothering you but can you help me? There is a drama that I’m trying to remember the name of, so I’m wondering if you know about it. Vaguely I recall that the premise is about a couple, and that the man had dyed blonde hair. Now I think it was from Korea and had a slice of life genre. Come to think of it there was not much of a plot to the drama.
Sorry for being so vague.
Take care
Bye! 🙂
Hm.. I’m not sure if I’m able to solve this for you, but here are a couple of kdramas that featured male characters: You’re Beautiful, Full House 2, Trot Lovers, My Lovely Girl. I hope one of these is the one you’re looking for! 🙂
Hi, I just started watching kdramas after stumbling onto Oh, My Ghost on Netflix and have since fallen in love with these wonderful shows, especially the rom coms, which are potent hits of romantic magic. And after a bit of searching, I was delighted to also find your blog, which I’ve been relying on to point me in the right direction – thank you for all your wisdom!
I know you’re busy, but just a request – please could you review Hwayugi? I know it’s a little like Marmite – you either love it or you hate it – but, despite its issues, I adored it, and would love to know what you think. It was my first exposure to Lee Seung Gi, and, from what I gather, the army sure did bring out the best in him as a leading man. Not to mention the terrific acting of Lee Se-Young, the zombie girl who certainly stole everyone’s hearts, if not the show.
Anyway, hope you can make time, and thank you so much for your spot on reviews and generally smart guidance on all things kdrama.
Susan
Hi there Susan, yay that you found me – welcome to the blog! 😀 I’m glad that you’ve been enjoying the reviews, that makes my day <3
As for Hwayugi, I did try to watch it, but didn't get through the first episode. I think you're right about the Marmite thing with this show – I just didn't feel it was for me, even though I was very curious to see post-army LSG in action. Sorry :/
On another note, if you're in the mood for a bit of retro LSG, I loved My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. It's a super cute rom-com, with a good chunk of heart. Totally loved it, and I hope you like it too! 🙂
I know you rarely post reviews about shows that are still on the air but I’ve been watching ‘The Great Seducer’ and I’m so curious to know what your first impressions are! If you’re not watching then never mind, I just love your reviews and I was curious what you thought.
Thanks for all your reviews! 🙂
Hi there Madhuri! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the reviews! 😀 The Great Seducer is on my list, but I haven’t been able to get to it yet. I’m curious about it; audience reactions seem divided. Some people love it, and others hate it. How are you liking it so far? 🙂
Hey kfangurl! Before I get to your question, I just want to fangurl (hah,) a little bit on how I am consumed by all your reviews! I’ve been reading a review a day and it is uncanny how many times you have managed to write (super eloquently) exactly as I feel about particular shows. Also, speaking as fellow Woob head, I completely agree with everything you say about his performances in School 2013 (which I just started last week) and Heirs (was super melo but Woob totally stole the show) and I am glad that he’s getting so much love from you!
On to the Great Seducer. I am one of those people that likes it so far, I am actually quite impressed with the male lead’s acting (Woo Do Hwan, who actually reminds me sometimes of Kim Woo Bin, in his voice and few facial expressions, so maybe that’s why I like him, haha). I am less impressed with Joy’s acting on the show so far, her character is very weakly sketched and she seems very one note. Their chemistry is pretty good though so far and maybe she gets better in the later episodes, but I am excited to see how it unfolds. I have read Les Liaisons Dangereuses and watched Cruel Intentions which are the source material for this show, so I am pretty excited about the upcoming episodes.
I hope you watch the show soon, I need a fangirl verdict!
Giggle. You are so cute, Madhuri! <3 Thanks for enjoying the reviews, it's so great that we feel so similarly on so many shows! Might I have found a drama soulmate? 😉 And let's not forget that we agree very much on Woob's appeal too, heh. 😍 Word of caution, though: I really hated Uncontrollably Fond, and it drained me of a lot of my Woob loyalty. So if you haven't seen UF yet, my advice would be to skip it. It doesn't do Woob any favors too. I seriously wish I hadn't attempted that one. 😛 Dropped post is here, in case you’d like to see it! 🙂
I can see the Woob comparison, with Woo Do Hwan.. he’s got a similar compelling kind of screen presence. I’m curious to see him in Great Seducer. As for Joy.. I didn’t enjoy her very much in The Liar and His Lover, so I’m not very excited to have her playing opposite Woo Do Hwan, to be honest. I will most definitely at least dip my toes into this one, just to see how I feel about it. When audience reaction is heavily divided, I get extra curious – sometimes to my own detriment, ha. 😆
I totally know what you mean about being curious to watch shows that are so polarized, this is actually why I watched The Heirs because I had heard so many contrasting things. And boy am I glad that I did! (Woo Bin forever). However, I am just starting my journey into the kdrama world and my opinions of all of the shows I have watched so far are extremely in sync with your reviews, except I maybe nurse a more tender soft spot for Scarlet Heart (its only due to Lee Junki’s brilliant acting), so yes I would say we are pretty close to being drama soulmates haha! 🙂
I watched all of Uncontrollably Fond only for Woob though, although the show becomes really really hard to complete in the latter half and plotlines are developed and dropped out of nowhere. He was probably the best part of the show and all of his pain scenes were superb, but even he could not save it. I do love the OST though, and this song in particular that he sings in his baritone (the first word gives me chills, it is so husky and deep).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oncsCUqeEZM
I look forward to reading more of your reviews, and legit fangirling now that you’ve replied to me haha!
Oh dear. You watched all of UF? I’m sorry you had to suffer like that! 😝 I thought I had big Woob love, but it turns out that I can’t watch a bad show even out of fangirl loyalty. 😛 That kinda makes you the bigger Woob fangirl between us, heh!
Btw, I checked out the first 2 eps of The Great Seducer today, and I can definitely see the Woob comparison. There’s that similar bad boy vibe, along with the deep drawl and the unusual features. I am not sure yet whether I like it.. so far it’s giving me Heirs vibes, a little bit. But better than Heirs – at least there isn’t any terrible USA scenes featuring inexplicably crass blonde surfer dudes! 😆 I’m interested to keep watching for now, but mainly coz of Woo Do Hwan. He is compelling that way. <3
Haha, I only wish I had found your review of UF before I watched, I would have settled for some scenes and not the whole show. But really, I had to force myself to finish only because I wanted to see how it ended (there was a lot of foreshadowing). This was also only the third or fourth kdrama I had ever seen and I think that my curiosity of kdramas in general really sucked me into it.
And yay, I am glad you find Do Hwan compelling! I watched it and immediately needed an honest and unbiased opinion and you were the only one I could think to ask because we have similar tastes and you articulate the detail in performances well! It did remind me a little of Heirs too, except without the wet blanket heroine, and the Kim Tan character (ugh).
Hello Kfangurl! Hope you are well! Just dropped by to say that I have lost all interest in the Greatest Seducer, haha. It started off well, I thought, the recent episodes are very underwhelming and disjointed, so I am going to stop watching for now.
On another note, I have started watching Healer! I am only done with the first episode but I am blown away by it and cannot wait to watch more! I really want to read your review (with the spoilers) but I am trying very hard not to. I did see that you loved it though, and I think this will be another show that I will feel the same about as you! I will keep you posted!
Hey there Madhuri! Thanks for dropping by to let me know! I am also rapidly losing interest in The Great Seducer.. I’m about 10 eps in and pretty much ready to throw in the towel. 😛
YAY that you’re watching Healer!!! OMG I LUFF THAT SHOW <3 And Ji Chang Wookkk 😍😍😍 SO SWOONY as Healer! Gah, envious that you're watching it for the first time 😉 Enjoy your watch! 😀
Aw. I guess it being one of your early dramas would definitely account for you sticking it through to the end. When I first started watching dramas, I would finish every single drama – even if I absolutely hated what I was watching. Ha. I have no idea why I did that.
Hiya Kfangurl!
I’ve been lurking on your blog for quite some time now and I really resonate with the reviews you’ve put out. After completing ‘Just between Lovers’ I couldn’t help but hope that you’d watched it too! Would definitely love to see a your comments on it. Quite possibly one of my favourite kdramas of all time, it’s so well written~
Thanks for the recommendation, ladyaliciaaa! I’ve just started on Just Between Lovers, and just 2 episodes in, I’m liking it very well! The characters feel real, and the treatment of their pain feels respectful and sensitive. I’m curious to see more for sure 🙂
PS: Yay that you’ve been enjoying the blog! <3
Hello hello!!!
So I’ve been searching high and low for recaps or review on “Prison Playbook” (or “Wise Prison Life”) because I neeeeeeeed to share my love for this show with SOMEONE!!! ANYONE!!! I mean, how is this show so great and NO ONE IS RECAPPING IT!?! ** crumbles in tears** (one could say “well why don’t YOU do it, Kethy?” but really, I don’t have a talent for writing, contrary to the awesome recappers/bloggers out there…)
for real though: have you watched it? I’m at ep13 and I’m in tears at the prospect of it coming to an end.
It’s on my list, Kethy! 😀 I just haven’t gotten to it yet, coz real life’s been hectic, and I just didn’t have the bandwidth to add another drama to my plate. But I’m almost done with a couple of the dramas I’m watching, so I think I will be starting on it soon. The show sounds pretty fantastic, which is always great to hear 😉
I so love your reviews. You & I have the same taste in kdramas. ❤️
Can you do a review on Three Color Fantasy please? 🙏
Hi there Rea! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂 Three Color Fantasy had slipped off my radar, but thanks to your suggestion, I’ve tracked it down, and will check it out – sooner than later, I hope 😉
Thank you so much! Can’t wait!
Thanks also for reviewing A Love So Beautiful, it’s now one of my fave C-dramas.
Oh YAY that you love A Love So Beautiful! 😀 It’s now one of my favorite C-dramas too! *hi5!*
I love your drama reviews!. Most organized and informative. Can you recommend another drama to watch after A Love So beautiful? After watching the drama I’ve been feeling lost. Something light and not too heavy on drama. Thank you and more power!!
Hi there GoldHollow! Glad you’re enjoying the reviews! 🙂 Also, yay that you loved A Love So Beautiful, that one is pretty special, I feel. <3 If you haven't watched them already, you might also want to try Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, 1% of Anything (2016 version), Splash Splash Love, We Married As A Job (J-drama), and Bromance (TW drama). They are all angst-lite and cute. I hope that helps! 🙂
Hi I just discovered this blog and I just want to say thank you! I don’t have any friends who watch k-dramas so reading your blog has been making me really happy! I just wanted to say thank you and keep it up! Also I would love to know your thoughts on While You Were Sleeping since like me Lee Jong Suk is on your top- actor list. Thanks again ❤️
Hi there Jen! Welcome to the blog! I’m so pleased to know that you’re enjoying the site. 😀 Do feel free to poke around some more! 🙂 As for While You Were Sleeping, I was going to give this one a miss, because I wasn’t very drawn to the premise. Plus, I was somewhat disappointed in how Lee Jong Suk’s last drama W turned out, so I was lowish on Lee Jong Suk loyalty, heh. On top of that, the generally mixed and mostly underwhelmed reactions that I saw to the show, didn’t make me want to watch it more. But, another reader recently loved WYWS, and asked if I could check it out, so I plan to at least try the first couple of episodes, to see if I like it enough to keep watching 🙂
Wrote from June 2017
@kfangurl: (re Hwarang kdrama)
Note: I think you forgot to write me back on this comment I made to you ‘back when’. 😀 (no worries)
I know what you mean. After reading your review-post about it, now I can see why it was dropped from your list, which I also agreed wholeheartedly to all the things you thought about it. (per episode, etc.) As I was reading your entire review, I was like ‘Yup…I thought that too.’ *hi5* It was sad things turned out the way it did, but…I too, also thought ‘meh’ to ‘Hwarang’ after awhile. I mean, even the last episode was cheesy! 😒🙄 (goodgrief) You didn’t miss anything; trust me. 😅😂🤣😛👍 lmao Not to mention, in the very beginning of Hwarang, I actually thought to myself, ‘Hey, I thought this show was supposed to be better than this?’ 😳😯😒🙄 What, with all the comedy in it between the two bromance guys, etc. I was like, ‘WTheck???’ lol Is this a serious drama or not? 🙄 *grunts* lol 😂😛 I found it a little ‘too silly’ for my liking. It kind-of took me a long while to start accepting it. I had a hard time accepting it from Ep 1 from the get-go. As for LOTBS, I actually felt it was too ‘hyped’ before the show started. (imho) By the time it started airing and we started watching, it was great at first. I loved Ep’s 1-3, but after that, it was sort-of starting to become ‘meh’ for me again (the romance between the two main characters). I say Ep’s 1-3, because of how funny the main actress was. She was very talented in being comical as a mermaid! hahahaha I also downloaded the OST cd album online. (free) 😛😂😅👍 Sometimes, you’ll find OST music is much better than the actual drama itself. hahahaha (which is ironic to say the least) 😛😅 Oh God, now for sure I’m going to have to start watching SWDBS w/Hyungsik in it! ❤️😍🤓👍 For now, I started watching ‘Suspicious Partner’ w/Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun acting as the two main characters in it. Oh gosh, Ji Chang Wook’s character (Noh Ji Wook is a prosecutor; also a private attorney) is ‘swoon-worthy’ 😍❤️😍❤️😛😉😎👍 in the way he’s dressed, wearing a business suit! *dies* (and sometimes wearing prosecuting attorney judge clothing in court 😍❤️😎) And, all the times he wears glasses in this drama w/his sleek-swept hair, dressed in a business suit…ugh~ 😍❤️😎🤓😉 Man, I lost count how many times I’ve come across his character wearing glasses per episode! lol ❤️🤓😎😉👍 I’m also liking this kdrama so far, because of the ‘who-done-it’ mysterious parts from the beginning. So far, I’m up to Ep 5 in this one. There’s 22 episodes total. Hope I can finish ‘Suspicious Partner’ before I start watching Hyungsik’s, SWDBS! 👍
Hi there Reiko. Sorry about that. I went through a drama-cum-blogging slump in the middle of the year, and basically ended up neglecting the blog (and all the comments!) for about 2-3 months. I read every comment, but never got around to replying. I apologize.
Yeah, Hwarang and LOTBS didn’t quite do it for me. I loved Park Hyung Sik in SWDBS though. He was very charming in that. And yes, Ji Chang Wook was very good in Suspicious Partner too. I thought Suspicious Partner was a pretty good watch overall. 🙂
I found your blog while searching for any blogger who liked Secret Love Affair…alot. The thought being–if you rated that drama highly, I would trust your opinion on everything else. You did not disappoint. The review was as good as the drama and that is the highest compliment I can give. I’m hooked on you. You are my new BF. I have no sisters and no friends who share my interest in Korean dramas, but now I have you.
Wow Linda, thank you for the kind words – that is a high compliment indeed, since I consider SLA a true masterpiece. That is definitely getting a special place in the ol’ mental treasure box. 😘
Also, WELCOME! Glad you found me! You are most definitely not alone; a lot of us drama fans come online because we don’t have friends or family who get our interest in dramas. Hope you enjoy exploring the blog and maybe even getting to know some of the regular readers! I’m looking forward to chatting dramas with ya! 😀
hi! hope you review “Because This is Our First Life”. i am very interested to know what you think about it.
also looking forward to your year end review. it’s always a favorite read. 🙂
thanks and keep on writing! 🙂
Aww! It’s so nice to know that my year-in-review post is a favorite read! Thank you! 😘 That definitely adds a burst of motivation to actually writing it, heh! 😉
I do plan to write a review for Because This is Our First Life, once I’ve finished watching it. I just need to watch the finale, before I can start writing. I hope that will be soon! 🙂
Hi! Long time follower! I need to know are you/have you watched Girls Generation 1979? I would love to know your thoughts.
Hi there Candice! Thanks for coming out and touching base! 🙂 I have Girls Generation 1979 on my list, and plan to check it out soonish. I have a pretty good feeling about this one, so fingers crossed! 😉
Oh pleeeaase do a review for Coffee Prince?? I know you do like the show and how much you love Gong Yoo! And I’ve always felt like your reviews and the way I feel after watching a show end up matching a lot (only yours are way deeper and well thought of!) But yeah, I often check out the review of a show after I’ve finished it on your blog 🙂
That’s the reason why I would love to read a coffee prince review! Please oh pleeeaassseee!!!
Hi there MKhan, glad to know that you’re enjoying the reviews! 😀 I have promised in the past to do a Coffee Prince review, so I do owe it to the world at large (gulp). I will see what I can do about actually posting one, in the foreseeable future! Thanks for the vote of confidence! 🙂
kfangurl!!! I just finished this, but I just had to tell you. Take this opinion with a few grains of salt, because I’m still coming off the high of the ending, but I swear I just watched a webdrama that I emotionally love and has the same impact to me as Nirvana in Fire. I swear it’s the best thing I’ve seen in the last 2 years. You know my recent love for webdramas? This one takes the cake: Tientsin Mystic. It’s completely phenomenal. In terms of quality or even acting, it obviously nowhere near the level of NiF from an objective standpoint. But honestly something about it just hits me in the gut and I love love love it. There are plenty of dramas that have more gut-wrenching angst, or tighter plots. But tbh this is just one of the few that all-around just hits it out of the ball park from all angle and in all aspects. The relative rookies and lesser-known actors are great (IMO, especially the main girl and guy) and really carry through. The characterizations themselves aren’t like the bestest, most complex people ever created, but they’re simple and human and with the actors bringing them to life, are completely relatable, lovable, and the best peeps to root for. The plot while isn’t flawless, is generally well done and woven-together. And it’s definitely fast paced. Maybe it might start slower in the beginning, but it really keeps up the speed (and is only a total of 24 eps). It’s quirky, very very rich in Chinese culture and all the awesomeness that makes me proud to be Chinese, fluffy but with gut-hitting moments of emotion and raw feel. Like it’s completely adorable and mostly fluffy, but when it does serve in the angst and feels, it’s very organic and comes in all flavors from brotherhood bromance, parental love, friendships, empathizing with others, love, everything. It’s very mythical, which comes with the Chinese culture woven in, but also so grounded in relatable real life emotions that the crazy ridiculousness of things never makes you question its reality in the universe they created.
And then plot. So many twists and turns as the pace really picks up near the end. Yet while there are still plenty of unanswered questions left with the ambiguous ending, all the plot points and mysteries they spent time as really start tying together as our characters discover more and more. And that ending! a little rushed maybe but ultimately I think was so well done. It’s ambiguous. Completely, utterly, shamelessly open ended, but also so very in the style of the whole production. The production and directing of the shots are really well done, and I love the taste of culture where the beginning of each ep is a very short clip of summary from the last ep but in traditional chinese-storytelling-at-the-tea-shop-style and each ep ends abruptly and with suspense, but also at a spot well-chosen to end. Back to the ending: it was so good IMO that honestly I didn’t mind the open-ending and would have loved it as a season 1 ending standalone. But at the same time, rest assured season2 is confirmed, I think with the same cast and crew, so LOVE.
Really recommend. Also keep in mind that you may not feel the magic at first. Originally I had tried watching as it was coming out on iQiyi and watched the first 2 eps. While waiting for the next weeks eps, I sort of lost motivation for no namable reason and went on hiatus, and “dropped” it for a bit. Yesterday, I was bored, went back to watching, and damn it I marathoned the whole thing in 2 days.
btw the whole thing relies heavily on “River God”, obvious by its chinese title if not the english one, and I’m totally impressed to say that of all the millions of water scenes, I think they basically filmed all of them in real water. So even if some of the green-screens look fake, the movements of the actors in water, along with the movement of the bubbles and immediate surrounding water, look so realistic. They definitely put in the effort to make this as top-quality as they could with the budget of a webdrama.
Oh wow, this show sounds amazing!! Thanks for sharing in such detailed, enthusiastic glory; I now feel like I just HAVE to check it out! 😀 It sounds quirky, engaging and refreshing in a way that feels extra rare in dramaland these days. Thanks Julianne, you’re the best! <3

I SEARCHED FOR YOUR REVIEW ON “DONG YI” AND I AM TRUTHFULLY SURPRISED TO SEE NONE! O_O
I’m sorry for the capslock. I’m just seriously surprise.. even now.
You have got to watch Dong Yi. It’s so underrated but it is a must see. It’s my whole family’s favorite kdrama! (Even grandpa loves it haha) Pinky swear, I have watched it more than how many times now and the impact of every moment is always there. Even if you know what will happen, you can never escape the feelings that will be refreshed in your mind & heart again and again. The impact is always there and one will actually enjoy it better the second time around! If one day you’ll be a rewatcher like me, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. The story is so well-written and the cast is perfect! It also has a cute romance between a King and a watermaid! <3 It has 60 episodes but it's soooo wooorth it!! PLEASE WATCH IT!! Even if you don't make a review. Just. Watch. It. So that I may rest in peace. lol joke! I want everyone to know this drama AHHHHHHHHH FEEL MEEEE
I would like to recommend these two shows that I’m watching right now: Fight my way and Suspicious partner
Hello, just want to let you know that I’ve been loving this blog since I came across it a year ago! Every drama that I’ve picked up based on your reviews were AMAZING and I particularly enjoyed reading the reviews again after I’ve finished the drama to read and ‘relive’ all the moments in your SPOILERS section hehe It’s funny how whenever I start reading this blog, time always fly by and it’s 2am… As a fellow kdrama fan, I totally appreciate how much effort you put into writing these detailed reviews, so keep up the good work, you’ve got a big fan here 😉
hey,i read your review on goong and you said that there are 2 version of the sub which is the fan sub and the mbc sub.I have watched goong for several times but the fan sub.Can i know which sites i can go to watch the mbc sub ver?would love to re watch it (again) in a different sub which will give a new impression
I found fangirl from a nice person’s referral on Quora-
I’m a bit overwhelmed yet determined to watch the one I’ll like the MOST first, since I’m pretty new to Sageuk, and have been mostly an anime person until about now. Just wanted to tell you that all the work you do here is MUCH appreciated.
I keep hoping I’ll find a movie or a drama that was as much fun as ‘Antique.’ If something springs to your mind at my mention of Antique, PLEASE share it with me :).
Thanks again <3
Are you watching Tunnel? You should be watching Tunnel. Its my favorite drama airing right now. I just hope it stays this good.
I haven’t checked out Tunnel! Great to know that it’s gotten off to a good start though – I’ve got it on my list. 🙂
Hi Fangurl!
Thought you might be interested in a different (and saving) interpretation of “W” that I posted in that section on April 17-18. Keep up the fantastic work, and I hope (when you have time) that this new view of “W” intrigues you. I have read the scriptwriter’s interview comments published last September, and still feel that she and the director may have inadvertently created a most intriguing — and actually very reasonable and satisfying story. The trick is to understand the perspective (which requires some reading into the scenes that we are given). Have fun — maybe you will want to re-watch “W” after considering this theory! I really like that show, but it took a little time for me to realize around episode 12 that this theory (which I formulated very early on) could still hold, despite the fact that we are never told about it explicitly. Many hints and foreshadowing parallels in the plot support it. It’s a bit of a head-bender, but very good!
Hey there! Your blog has some really good reviews I have been following it since 2014 (i suppose :/) and some of your posts are damn good!! Some of your recommendations have been awesome.I would love to recommend you the Korean movie “mood of the day” it is easily available on any site with subs, starring moon chae won and yoo yeon seok! This feels like some of the old american romantic movies with less or no humour! Would love to read your views on it.
Much love
Sakura..
Hi there Sakura! Thanks for the recommendation, I will look out for that movie. I do enjoy Yoo Yeon Seok. 😉
Halo, i really love your review. i have made your review as my kdrama guidance book and watch list.
here is just some idea, it will be great if you put the year of the drama on you review list.
Keep watching and keep reviewing
Thanks 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion, Putri. 🙂 I might do that the next time I’m doing spring-cleaning on the blog. With more than 150 reviews on the list, it would take me some time to get that overhauled. Glad you’re finding the reviews helpful nonetheless! 🙂
Hey there, Kfangurl…long time no talk! It’s me, Reiko-chan. 👍 Sorry I hadn’t come to your site for a long while now, due to watching so much K-dramas lately. I’ve been meaning to share with you all the ones I’ve finished so far, and it’s: 1) The Legend of the Blue Sea; 2) The Night Watchman; 3) Customize Happiness (a Taiwanese drama); 4) and Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.
I’m currently watching 3 dramas all at once: 1) Hwarang (on Ep 6 so far); 2) Triangle w/Jaejoong (on Ep 4 so far); 3) and High Society w/Park Hyung Sik. (he also acted in Hwarang as the King, disguised as one of the brothers) I’m REALLY enjoying watching Triangle and Hwarang so much! I find Triangle so funny in a lot of parts, just because Jaejoong is really good in acting in comedy-dramas…he’s always cracking me up a lot. But, I also read somewhere that the writer or director to IRIS also did Triangle as well. It has some mystery-cop-murder/romance/slight comedy all mixed into it, as well as some political intrigue involved. Also, about illegal gambling in a casino, etc. So, even from Ep 1 I became hooked already! 😅lol I’m also finding Hwarang funny, esp w/all of the brothers acting the way they do toward one another.
And, of course, I became smitten A LOT by Park Hyung Sik from Hwarang. 😍❤️😜😘👍😛 I want to watch him BADLY in ‘High Society’ already! hahaha I’ve come across various trailer Eng subbed videos on YouTube to this one, and there’s a kissing scene he did where he ends up getting his shirt ripped all the way (while still wearing his suit), coming out of the car, showing his entire ABS and…oh geez, nevermind. (hint: n*pples!) *blushes* Shhhhhh~~ ❤️😍😱😎😜👍LOL It even shocked ME…laughing at the same time while staring at his abs! *pfft* 😅😂😍😛 I was like, HELLO! hahaha
I still have yet to comment on your LOTBS and Hwarang drama posts. I shall do it now. 😛👍 Just thought I’d let you know what I’ve been up to lately, since I last commented on your fanblog. ❤️ Too many K-dramas, so little time for me! haha *hi-5*
Hi there Reiko! Thanks for dropping by, even though you’ve been busy! Always nice to catch up for a bit. 🙂
I ended up dropping Hwarang, and am currently stalled on LOTBS (it’s not bad, but I got sidetracked), but I just wanted to say, I am loving Park Hyung Sik SO MUCH in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon! If you’re loving him in High Society, I think you’ll like him even more in Do Bong Soon. He’s so endearing and so melty in it. 😍😍😍 I inhaled all the available episodes, and am now impatiently waiting for new episodes. It’s not perfect, and has some uneven tonal issues, but Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young are adorable. ❤
Whaaaaaa…you DROPPED ‘Hwarang’??? 😱😱😱😱😳😯😓😩 That’s too bad. 😕 I think you should really take a much closer look into it again, and tryyyy watching it. ☝️🤔 You won’t regret it, esp since Park Hyung Sik is the main character to it too. 😛😉😍😎👍
You got ‘stalled’ watching LOTBS? 😛 Hmmm…wonder why? 😛😯 (just curious) 😅
Oooooooh you like PHSik too like me? *puppy dog eyes to u* 😉😉❤️ Omg, thanks for mentioning a ‘new’ drama w/PHSik in it! I’ll start watching it NOW then. ❤️ Oooooh, me liiiiiike ‘melty’. 😛😍😉😎❤️ Right now, for me…WHO CARES about the uneven tonal issues…I’LL DEAL! LOL (hee hee)
Lol. Yes, I dropped Hwarang. The boys were pretty, but really, that was far from enough. I felt bored by the story, and felt unconvinced by the OTP loveline. As for LOTBS, it was decent, but I guess I was feeling rather jaded with kdramas in general, and wanted it to be more amazing than it was. I have tentative plans to go back to it, so it’s not my Dropped list just yet.
But yes, I do enjoy Park Hyung Sik very much, and he is being particularly swoony in SWDBS. I’m frustrated with a lot of things in that show, but Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young are wonderful. <3
Re Hwarang kdrama: I know whatcha mean. After reading your review-post about it, nowwww I can see why it was dropped from your list, which I also agreed wholeheartedly to all the things you thought about it. (per episode, etc.) As I was reading your entire review, I was like ‘Yup…I thought that too.’ *hi5* It was sad things had to turn out that way though to it, but…I, too, also thought ‘meh’ to ‘Hwarang’ after awhile. I mean, even the last episode was cheesy! 😒🙄 (goodgrief) You didn’t miss anything…trust me. 😅😂🤣😛👍 lmao
Not to mention, in the very beginning of Hwarang, I actually thought to myself, ‘Hey, I thought this show was supposed to be better than this?’ 😳😯😒🙄 What with all the comedy in it between the 2 bromance guys, etc. I was like, ‘WTheck???’ lol Is this a serious drama or not? 🙄 *grunts* lol 😂😛 I found it a little ‘too silly’ for my liking. It kind-of took me a long while to start accepting it. I had a hard time accepting it from Ep 1, from the get-go.
As for LOTBS, I actually feel it was too ‘hyped up’ before the show started. (imho) By the time it started airing and we started watching, it was great at first. I loved Ep’s 1-3, but after that, it was sort-of starting to become ‘meh’ for me again (the romance between the 2 main characters). I say Ep’s 1-3, because of how funny that main actress was! She was so talented in acting comical as a mermaid! hahahaha I actually downloaded the OST cd album online though. (free) 😛😂😅👍 Sometimes, you’ll find OST music is much better than the actual drama itself. hahahaha (which is ironic to say the least) 😛😅
Oh God, now for sure I’m going to have to start watching SWDBS w/Hyungsik in it! ❤️😍🤓👍
For now, I started watching ‘Suspicious Partner’ w/Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun acting as the 2 main characters in the drama. Oh gosh, Ji Chang Wook’s character (Noh Ji Wook is a prosecutor; also a private attorney) is ‘swoon-worthy’ 😍❤️😍❤️😛😉😎👍 in the way he’s dressed, wearing a business suit! *dies* (and sometimes wearing prosecuting attorney judge clothing in court 😍❤️😎) And, all the times he wears glasses in this drama w/his sleek-swept hair, dressed in a business suit…ugh~ 😍❤️😎🤓😉 Man, I lost count how many times I’ve come across his character wearing glasses, per episode! lol ❤️🤓😎😉👍 I’m also liking this kdrama so far, because of the ‘who-done-it’ mysterious parts in it from the beginning. So far, I’m up to Ep 5 in this one. There’s 22 episodes to this one. Hope I can finish ‘Suspicious Partner’ before I start watching Hyungsik’s one, SWDBS! 👍
Has anyone of you ladies watched This Week My Wife Will Have an Affair? I love how different it is from the typical dramas and at 12 episodes it does not waste time with fluff and extras. It would be such a treat if you would review it. Here’s wishing you a great new year full of good health and awesome dramas.
Thanks KS! I think yours was one of the key recommendations that got me to reconsider this drama. It’s now on my list! 😊
Hey, hun! How are you <3?
I just watched the most amazing two japanese movies and I wanted to talk to someone about them. And who's more knowledgeable in asian culture, especially movies if not dear Kfangurl <3?
I know you're not really keen on japanese productions but these two had great storylines. Actually, I want to order the books (same author, Takuji Ichikawa) but I can only find one of them translated in english 🙁 I guess I'll just have to pick up japanese again :))))
The movies I'm talking about are called "Tada, kimi wo aishiteru", also known as "Heavenly Forest" and "Ima, ai ni yukimasu" or in english, "Be with you". Honestly speaking, the acting isn't great, at least in the first one, but the stories are so poignant and beautiful it's worth the watch.
Um, I wanted to ask you to give them a shot if you have the time. Two hours each but I think you'll like them 🙂 In case you do decide to watch them, please tell me how you found them. I personally, really liked them, though they are tragic stories (just wanted to get that out of the way 😛 )
When it comes to dramas, my tastes and preferences seem to converge towards yours. So far, all of your recommendations have been spot on and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them <3. I'd like to think that I can recommend something good as well 😛
Tada, kimi wo aishiteru is a bit more weak compared to the second one, so you might want to start with that one (kinda like City Hunter and Healer :)))) I remember you telling me in which order to watch them so that I can enjoy both just as much)
Anyway, since it's been so long, I had already started to miss you and the blog 😛 I hope RL has slowed down a bit for you and gave you time to return to the Dramaland that you so enjoy 😀
I look forward to your reply, even if it's just a "Hi" :))))
See you soon <3
Sabina! ❤ It’s always great to hear from you!! I’m doing good! RL’s less hectic now, but last week I was having some pain in my shoulders which made it hard to blog since it hurt to type for long periods at a time. But, I’m doing better now, and I was even able to post my review for Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, which makes me happy 🙂 If you have some drama time to spend, I do recommend that one!
Thanks for the J-movie recommendations, my dear. You’re right, I watch a lot less Japanese stuff than Korean, but I will put them on my list for when I’m next in the mood for a Japanese movie! Thanks for thinking of recommending them! 😘
Hey, so the drama I’d really like reviewed is Bad Family, I happened to really enjoy the drama.
and I’d love to read what you think.
Another few dramas that I’d like to read a review on, if you have time would be, Ms. Temper & Nam Jung Gi, Pinocchio and Scholar Who Walks The Night.
@Nein: I also dig Scholar Who Walks The Night…but only because I’m a big fan of Shim Changmin of TVXQ, who acts in this one as Crown Prince Lee Yoon. ❤️😉👍
Hi there Nein, you can find a review on Scholar here, and I do plan to review Pinocchio at some point (love that show!). Unfortunately, I haven’t watched Ms. Temper and don’t really have plans to check it out, so there’s unlikely to be a review on that. I haven’t reviewed Bad Family, and might not be able to coz I’m so backed up with more recent dramas, but I’d give that one a solid B. It was a fun watch with some good warm feels. 🙂 I hope that helps!
Btw, sorry I forgot to mention…on another note, I’ve always wondered how you’re able to watch ALL of these dramas AND review them, in full? 😱 It just fascinates and boggles my mind to know you’ve taken so much effort, many many hours/weeks/months/years of writing all of these reviews for us, as well as time in watching them to begin with. At first, I assumed you may have been working for a drama company that enables you to do this for a living and get paid for it in the process, I don’t know. lol Then again, I thought well, perhaps maybe she just loves writing reviews on her drama hobby enough to do it ‘just because’, and built such a passion for it that it’s now become her lifelong hobby? I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom and dedicated wife of 17+ years now, and I’ve been home daily since my child was born (she’s now 13 in Middle School), and even I don’t have that kind of time to do what you do. It just fascinates me to know that about you, dedicating yourself into doing what you love, and developing such a passion for it in the process. I sincerely want to take this time in commending you for everything you’re doing for us on your fansite. I just wished there were more fans out there who could write just as exquisitely as you do! (P.S. Unless you already have a job position as a writer at a firm somewhere, I don’t know? j/k)
Lol. Thanks for the encouragement and compliments, Reiko! And no, I don’t work for a drama company. I just enjoy dramas, and enjoy writing, and that’s how this blog was born. I wasn’t sure I was going to keep at it, and originally just wanted to try it out for fun. Who knew that it would take off and actually gain a supportive readership?? I do have Real Life commitments and work, and that’s why my postings aren’t all that regular. But I post when I can, and I watch when I can, and my readers are very understanding and patient when life’s too hectic for me to post, and that’s how I’ve kept on going for as long as I have. 🙂
PS: No, my job is not in writing. 😉 Which is why I enjoy having this blog so much, actually. It gives me a space to tinker with writing, which is something I’ve always enjoyed. 🙂
Wow! My hats off to you then for all the effort and fulfillment your blogsite gives, including the satisfactory enjoyment of writing and an outlet in the process of it all. You have another added ‘fan’ here from me too! 👍❤️😊
I, too, have a big following on my FB wall as well. I’ve accumulated over the years the TVXQ sisters I’ve come to know and develop very close friendships with. And they, too, like you…understand and is patient w/me when my life is too hectic to post at times. Yes, they continue to keep me going! ❤️ (including the idols themselves, of course…lol 😛)
Oh, I also love writing btw. I’ve always liked English in grade school as well as HS and college. 😅 I was one to help correct my friend’s papers as well as past study group members’ papers for grammar & spelling errors, etc. 😛 But, I’m no expert. Far from it. lol
Aw, thanks Reiko ❤ It does require a lot of effort, but I do enjoy my blog very much, and tend to it as much as I can. I’m blessed to have patient readers like you, who don’t mind when I get backed up on reviews &/or comments. This is a perfect example – I’m sorry this reply is coming so very late. October was a super hectic month for me, and I’m only just now getting caught up. 😛
It’s great that you enjoy writing too. I don’t consider myself an expert, but I’ve always enjoyed writing, and this blog allows a perfect outlet for it. I hope you’re enjoying your virtual spaces too! 😊
That’s the main important thing, is to always love what you do, and your passion shines through in not only the writing, but also in your overall blog-feels to it. :). I honestly believe when a blog gives off those kinds of vibes to readers, they’ll keep coming back for more every time. Keep up the awesome work, and no need to apologize either w/your busy schedules. Your readers here will understand.
I’d been hectic too this past 2 wks due to the States’ Thanksgiving holiday passing as well as our usual annual Black Friday/Cyber Monday holiday sales that also keep us busy just as well. lol Anyways, much continued success w/this blog of yours!
Oh yes, I sure do my social media outlets I belong to too! lol <3
Aw, thanks for the encouragement and well-wishes, Reiko! I’m really happy that you enjoy the blog 🙂 I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! <3
Hey kfangurl! It’s me, Reiko once again. (or, ReikoMin218) You can call me Reiko, since everyone on FB calls me by that name.
I have a question in regards to commenting, especially whenever I’ll comment in between a convo between you and another person. After I posted a comment within your convo with ‘said’ comment, I got this msg from WordPress: “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”
Just was curious if you suddenly changed your settings in regards to commenting or…? 😳😯 I just wanted to know, since I’ve never saw this msg come up before whenever I’d comment here. 😞 Please let me know; thank you. 😊
Hi there Reiko, the moderation thing is not because I changed my settings. It’s because your comments contained links, and WP identified them as potential spam. When that happens I’m alerted to moderate the comment, ie, approve or classify as spam. Most spam comments contain links, that’s why WP treats your comments with links like that. Don’t worry, I do get to the comments and approve them when they’re not spam! 🙂
Omg, again, my deep apologies for the links n’stuff. Didn’t realize WP was so strict w/all of that happening, even though they are coming from reliable sources and the like a lot of times. 😓😯😣 It’s so complicating when they’re like this for me, I guess. Because there’s a lot of times I’d like share with you certain gifs or pics and/or info, it’s hard to decipher the difference between what links are deemed ‘good’ and ‘not good’. Because I’ve also never moderated a fansite before, and my WP fansite is a new thing for me, and because being a part of your fansite here IS my first time being on one like this on a sort-of professional level too, it’s difficult for me knowing. So, mybad in not knowing. 😓
Only if you don’t mind letting me know from time to time (i.e. when I do make comments where I’ll add links like those), just let me know, and feel free to delete some of them if you feel it potentially being a hazard on your site as well.
Sure, no problem Reiko. 🙂 It’s a learning curve for all of us, and I didn’t know anything about WordPress or DMCA etc when I started as well. Share whatever links you’d like, and if WordPress holds it for moderation, I will take a look at it and approve or remove links as necessary. No worries! 😘
*whew* Thank you so much for doing this for my comments. It’s a big sigh-relief on my end, having to always try to keep track of what I write or what I’m doing, since your site isn’t the only site I go to due to commenting, etc. *hug* So, far be it for me to always keep up. (sry) Thanks!
Hi kfangirl! I’ve been an active lurker here for quiet some time and I really love your drama reviews! I enjoyed reading every bits of your posts. Your reviews are so honest and I ain’t feeling any “bias-feel” at all. Anyway, I was also inspired by your blog and tryin’ to start my own drama reviews now. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how can I effectively write my own drama reviews? Also, I was thinking of where to get stock photos to be used in writing kdrama reviews. I was kind of scared by the thought of “copyright infringement”. Thanks in advance, Kfangirl! Hope to be hearing from you soon!
More drama reviews to come please! Hwaiting!!!~
Hi there Icia, it’s nice to meet you 🙂 Congrats on starting your own blog – that’s a big step! I never knew how much work and commitment goes into running a drama blog (or any sort of blog, I suppose), until I started my own.
In terms of screenshots, I believe taking your own screenshots should be fine. That falls under fair use, since you would be using them for comment and review, rather than claiming the images as your own. Using the shows’ posters should be fine too. As for suggestions or ideas about drama reviews.. I guess I’d say, write as you feel inspired. You’re doing this for fun, so when it starts to feel like work, it won’t be fun for you, and it will show in your writing. I hope that helps! 🙂
Hi, kfangirl!
I’ve been a long reader of your blog but never commented. I am also a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due so I have to say, your blog is wonderful! You are so articulate and your reviews are cohesive, smart and on point. Your Gaksital and Healer reviews are masterpieces in my book, truly. Thank you for being so passionate and for taking the time to do this!
I’ve noticed you review many dramas from the current year (btw, is Ms. Temper & Nam Jung-Gi on your watchlist cause I’d be curious to know what you think of it?) However, there are so many emblematic, older dramas I’d love to hear, err read your insightful take on, like Secret Garden or The Greatest Love, just to name a few. I know time is a big impediment and also the rising number of dramas every year but have you ever considered choosing a number, let’s say 2 every year, of older dramas for you to (re)watch and review? That is, if you find any value in (re)watching older dramas cause otherwise that would be a rather selfish suggestion from me, wouldn’t it? 🙂
Hi there Doda!! Thank you for delurking to leave such a lovely comment!! 😄 I’m so pleased that you enjoy the blog and the reviews – that is super encouraging, and definitely adds to my motivation to keep on writing! Also, thank you for loving the Gaksital and Healer reviews.. I’ve got a huge soft spot for both reviews, since both are monstrous in their own right, and were my way of trying to do justice to shows that I felt deserved it. ❤
To answer your questions, I currently don’t have Ms. Temper on my list. It’s not my usual cup of tea, and even though I heard positive things about it, it hasn’t been enough to actually draw me into checking it out. Of course, the massive number of new shows out now, AND the ones that are about to premiere, are a big factor. I’m realizing that it’s just impossible to keep up with it all, so I’ve to be more selective now too, in terms of where I spend my drama hours.
That said, I actually DO believe in rewatches, and several reviews on the blog have been born out of a rewatch, like my reviews for Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Goong. I had rewatched the shows without plans to write reviews for them, but ended up enjoying my rewatch so much that I just had to give the shows some love on the site. 😊 I don’t have a schedule or anything, but a Coffee Prince review is something that I’ve promised to write, so that is a goal for this year that I hope to accomplish, in the midst of all the newer shows that I want to watch and write about as well. I guess the short answer is, yes, there will sometimes be a review for an older show on the blog. Just, no actual plan or schedule in terms of when that happens or what shows they will cover! I hope that helps 😁
Hello hello! I was just reading your review on Let’s Eat and although it’s been on my to-watch list for months, I finally started and I’m really liking it. I’m not sure if you’ve been following/watching “Age of Youth” on jtbc as well, but it’s a wonderful drama. Anyway I realised that I like k-dramas that have a slice-of-life element to it like the two dramas above (as well as Cheese in the Trap), I just love the little things that the show focuses on and the cinematography is always super gorgeous! I was wondering if you may know any other similar dramas that has the slice-of-life element as well? 🙂
Hi there Evelyn! Yay that you’re enjoying Let’s Eat! I really enjoyed Let’s Eat 2 as well, even though that required a reboot of the drama world. I have Age of Youth on my list, but haven’t managed to check it out yet.
For more slice-of-life drama, you might want to check out Dear My Friends, Plus Nine Boys, Oh Hae Young Again, Misaeng. I also really enjoyed the Answer Me dramas, with AM88 being my favorite of the 3.
Family dramas are also a great way to get some slice of life feels, even though the production values tend to be lower and more homely. My favorite one of all time is Life is Beautiful. You can find reviews of all the shows I mentioned on this page. I hope that helps!! 😊
Hi there!
Have you been watching The Flower in Prison? I watched Six Flying Dragons and absolutely loved it! Should I start this sageuk?
Hi there Celeste! Glad you enjoyed Six Flying Dragons! 🙂 I haven’t been watching The Flower in Prison myself, but I’ve read some good things about it, so I do think it’s worth a shot, particularly if you’re in the mood for sageuk. 🙂 I hope that helps!
Welcome back! Missed your reviews 😛
Have you seen My Spring Days https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Spring_Days? Any thoughts on it? 😮
Hi there Ana! Thanks for the welcome back! It does feel good to be back ^^
I haven’t seen My Spring Days, even though it’s sorta vaguely on my list. I’ve heard generally good things about it, and that Soo Young’s pretty good. I think if you’re in the mood for a melo of the classic Hallyu persuasion, you might like it. 🙂
