Review: Can This Love Be Translated?

THE SHORT VERDICT:

For the majority of its run, I genuinely felt that Show was quite excellent.

From the sweeping, gorgeous scenery, to the beautiful people in it, Show was a treat to look at. On top of that, I found the writing thoughtful and thematically robust, and I loved following Show’s train of thought from episode to episode.

Unfortunately, Show does wobble in the finale stretch. Not enough to break my watch, exactly, but it sure leaves me with a wistful sense of the could’ve beens. 🥲

Despite that, I do think that Show is worth your time, on balance.

Review: Resident Playbook

THE SHORT VERDICT:

The long-awaited spin-off to the beloved Hospital Playlist series (Season 1 and Season 2 reviews here and here!), this show brings back a lot of the same feels, just from a different angle, and with a new set of characters.

We get a nice balance of screen and story time between individual journeys, the development of our core four as an intact group, the various patient cases, and even an adorable little loveline.

And, to add a bit of spice and excitement to it all, we also get regular cameos from various Hospital Playlist alumni.

Very enjoyable and worthwhile, in my opinion.

Review: Moving

THE SHORT VERDICT:

I think it’s safe to say that Moving is quite the remarkable drama.

Not only are the production values top-tier, the directing is thoughtful and intentional, the writing is tight, and the acting is all-around pretty darn excellent.

Add on the fact that we have quite the star-studded large cast, and doesn’t it seem like this show really is the product of all the stars aligning to create an amazing end product?

My absolute favorite thing about this show is that it is as tender, heartfelt and emotionally engaging, as it is slick, polished and gritty. I found it impossible not to care about these characters, and that, to me, is Show’s best trait and biggest accomplishment.

Highly recommend, even if you’re not typically into dramas that feature superpowers &/or blood/violence.
