Review: Idol I

THE SHORT VERDICT:

A warm, character-driven melodrama that wears a murder mystery on the surface, but is ultimately far more interested in healing, identity, and love — and the quiet courage each requires.

The plotting can be convenient and the thriller elements tend to be serviceable rather than sharp, but importantly, the emotional throughlines remain steady and sincere.

While it never quite recaptures the early spark, Show stays consistent in tone and delivers a tidy, heartfelt finish that feels earned, if not dazzling.

Flash Review: New Year Blues [Korea] [Movie]

Why am I watching an end-of-year festive movie at the end of August, you ask? Heh. You could say I’m gearing up early for the new year, or that I’m just suuuper late to the party. 😜

In all honesty, it’s just because I stumbled on this movie while browsing titles on iQIYI, and perked up at the sight of so many familiar faces. Which means I basically watched this for the reunion feels, didn’t I?

No matter, coz it was a pretty easy-breezy watch; a perfectly acceptable way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Review: Dating Agency Cyrano

THE SHORT VERDICT:

Breezy, light, and just a little bit quirky, Dating Agency Cyrano is a fun little show for when you’re in the mood for a bit of mindless fluff.

Plot logic regularly requires some suspension of disbelief, but there are enough plus points in this show to still make it an enjoyable watch.

More than the overarching story, and more than the cases of the day, it’s the characters and their warmth that wormed their way into my heart, then resonated and lingered with me.

Far from cracktastic, but still a good dose of fun.
