Head Over Heels for: Kim Woo Bin

Many of you already know all about my fangirl love for Gong Yoo, and my pretty robust crush on Jang Hyuk. Those were the two big k-loves in my k-life for quite a nice long while, both of them occupying a sizable chunk of my fangirl heart and my fangirl mind.

And then one day – like a bolt out of the blue – Kim Woo Bin came and snuck up on me and now I’m officially head over heels in love with Woobie. ❤ I didn’t even see it coming, to be honest (sneaky Woobie).

So today I’m gonna tell y’all ALL about how I fell in love with Woobie.. Come squee, ogle & swoon with me!

Vanilla Acoustic – 대화가 필요해

Encounter 1: A Gentleman’s Dignity

The first time I set eyes on Kim Woo Bin was when I decided to check out A Gentleman’s Dignity.

After a somewhat rough and reluctant start, I found a way to enjoy the show, but didn’t take a whole lotta notice of Kim Woo Bin.

I mean, look at the poster featuring the ensemble cast. Kim Woo Bin’s not even in it, even though fellow supporting actor Lee Jong Hyun gets a spot in the lineup. That already tells you that his role is, well, really not very big.

I thought Kim Woo Bin had some nice moments in the show, like so:

But I wasn’t too taken with the crazy curly mop of a hairdo that they gave him throughout the show, and I mostly just thought of him as the requisite rebel high-schooler who nursed a crush on his teacher:

Despite the measure of squee that I’d heard around the dramaverse over Kim Woo Bin, he barely blipped on my radar here.

Of course, now with fangirl lenses firmly on, I think he looks all kind of adorable, but that’s another story and perhaps necessitates a selective second watch of A Gentleman’s Dignity, heh.

Encounter 2: To The Beautiful You

I love Japan’s Hana Kimi, so when Korea decided to make its own version in To The Beautiful You, I knew I had to check it out.

Kinda like A Gentleman’s Dignity, this was a show that I had to figure out a way to enjoy, AND, whose poster of the ensemble cast didn’t even include Kim Woo Bin. Of course, this time, Kim Woo Bin had more of an extended cameo than an actual supporting role.

Maybe it was the better hair, but I liked him better here than in A Gentleman’s Dignity. Not enough to be blown away like everyone else, but enough to understand his appeal.  Sorta. Coz the weak writing in To The Beautiful You introduced his character rather clumsily, and that bothered me.

I did find him rather interesting overall, particularly for an extended cameo lasting just two episodes. And I noticed that his screen presence was strong:

Again, my fangirl lenses have now clued me in on how handsome Kim Woo Bin is in a tux (Eeee!), so let’s take a nice long look, just coz we can:

Given that I have a general weakness for men in crisp white shirts, I couldn’t possibly leave this one out either:

Aw. Beautiful.

Looks like a re-watch of episodes 9 and 10 of To The Beautiful You is somewhere in my future too.

Blown Away: School 2013

It was only in School 2013 that Kim Woo Bin officially blew me away with his screen presence and acting chops.

I don’t know what it was – as in, why now & not earlier.. maybe there was something in the water I was drinking that day? – but when Kim Woo Bin first appeared on my screen at the end of episode 3, the potency of his screen presence made me gasp out loud. Literally. I mean, just look at him, all fierce and badass:

That’s when I realized that his screen presence is formidable.

It’s a very male, dominant, forceful, compelling, magnetic sort of presence. All he had to do was show up on my screen, and I couldn’t take my eyes off him. And that, when I wasn’t even crushing on him at the time.

As the story progressed, I was really impressed with the layered nuance that Kim Woo Bin brought to his character. He was clearly full-on into his character and his delivery, and that immersion really showed, from big emotional scenes, to small subtle beats.

He was just so, so good.

Up till this show, I used to just see him as the go-to actor to play the rebellious kid, coz he’s got the total bad-boy look and vibe about him. Or maybe coz he did the bad-boy rebel so well in A Gentleman’s Dignity.

In School 2013, though, he outright blew the lid off what I’d used to think of him as an actor. I realized that he’s way, way more than the token bad-boy actor. He acted with so much nuance and brought so much intensity to the role that I found him completely masterful.

He showed so much, with so little. In some scenes, with hardly any change in his facial expression, he managed to communicate so much with just his eyes and the very minor muscle changes in his face, like he did in this scene:

It’s outstanding, and Kim Woo Bin shot up my mental list of brilliant k-actors because of this.

At the same time, I also became completely invested and totally smitten with his character’s bromance with Lee Jong Suk‘s character.

From tempestuous tension-laden scenes:

To exhilarated I-got-your-back bromantic scenes:

To the uneasy state of truce in between:

Both Kim Woo Bin and Lee Jong Suk approached the bromance with bold, barefaced emotional potency, and I was completely and utterly sucked in.

Honestly, I cared more about their bromance than about many a romantic love-line that I’d encountered in other dramas. These two had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath for them during the Oh-no-what-now stretches, and squeeing out loud at the moments of pure cute like this one:

Eeeee! I just wanted to squish them! Seriously. How adorable are they??

In the spirit of not being overly spoilery, I won’t showcase any more screenshots of them here, just in case you haven’t seen the show (it’s awesome though, so go watch it!).

Suffice to say that long after the credits rolled, these two characters and their bromance continued to linger with me. Big time. Which led me where I don’t go very often – I started hunting for interviews and variety shows featuring these two together.

Soaking Up the Awesome: Interviews & Variety

At this juncture, I think it’s important to mention that I wasn’t yet in love with Woobie. I was just really, really taken with the bromantic awesome between him and Lee Jong Suk, and I wanted to soak it all up. And I was intoxicated from all the awesome I found.

Firstly, I was very much taken with the fact that Kim Woo Bin and Lee Jong Suk were already friends, but became real-life besties during the filming of School 2013; their easy, bromantic chemistry was a true pleasure to watch. Secondly, I was also very pleasantly surprised to find that Kim Woo Bin is full of substance – way more than his roles have shown. Put those 2 things together, and I was glued to my screen, lapping up his various joint interviews with Lee Jong Suk.

I love that Woobie’s got a comfortable, spontaneous vibe during interviews. He manages to be funny, witty, thoughtful and tactful, which is no easy thing, even for a seasoned celeb.

In joint interviews with Lee Jong Suk, he often is the one who finishes Jong Suk’s thoughts when Jong Suk’s at a loss, and he does so with finesse, in a way that shows depth of thought, capacity for humor, and sensitivity and respect for others. I love it.

It also turns out that he was a much better student than the characters he’s played, and that intelligence totally shows. His answers always sound so robust, even when the questions seem thrust at him from out of the blue, and that indicates that he’s thought about a lot of these things before. He strikes me as a more thoughtful person than one might imagine him to be, given his bad-boy image.

And he speaks well. His bad-boy characters so far have been more reticent in general, but when Kim Woo Bin speaks to answer a question, you can tell that he’s articulate, confident and well-spoken. And I love that too.

When faced with a question that is offensive, he deflects it with humor, not offense. Like, he’ll laughingly say things like, “What’s with these questions?” or “That’s too much.”

And it all comes across as so spontaneous, along with the little bits of off-the-cuff humor that he throws in. All in all, I feel like I’m getting to see the real him, not a manufactured version of him. This is particularly pronounced when it’s a joint interview with Jong Suk, and I believe it’s coz their friendly rapport makes him truly relaxed.

On top of that, he comes across as comfortably affectionate, which I really, really love. I notice that in interviews with Lee Jong Suk, Kim Woo Bin’s usually the one who will be more handsy. Like how he thwacks Jong Suk in the chest whenever Jong Suk says something to rib him. So cute!

Interviews

These are 2 of my favorite joint interviews of Woo Bin with Jong Suk.

In this one, I love how Woo Bin keeps having to finish Jong Suk’s thoughts for him:

And in this one, I love their easy banter and affectionate sparring. And the hints of handsy we get from both of them:

Running Man

I don’t watch Running Man regularly, but check out episodes selectively, based on who’s guesting. Of course, when I found out that Woo Bin and Jong Suk guested together on episode 138, I eagerly eyeballed the 2 of them on my screen, practically exploding from all the cute.

I particularly loved how affectionately handsy they are with each other.

I noticed that Woo Bin’s usually the one who is more affectionately demonstrative, not only with Jong Suk, but also with Lee Jong Hyun, who acted with him in A Gentleman’s Dignity. In the speed-eating snippet on Running Man, Kim Woo Bin’s almost always got his arm hanging around Jong Suk’s shoulder, and he doesn’t hesitate to clap Jong Suk on the shoulder, or hold onto his arm, or crash into Jong Suk while cracking up with laughter. And there is nothing gay about it, either. You can easily tell that he’s just very comfortable with being affectionate, and I love that. So much.

Here’s a short snippet of Woo Bin and Jong Suk during the speed-eating segment:

Edit: The link to the full episode that I’d posted previously no longer works (sadface). The good news is, you can still watch the full episode on kshowonline here.

Falling in Love Part 1: Dreamland

In the midst of checking out all the joint interviews and Running Man of Woo Bin with Jong Suk, I was in full-on spazz mode over their wonderful bromance. I wasn’t actually crushing on either of them, although I did find Woo Bin more attractive.

And then, one morning, after gorging on the bromance on Running Man the night before, I had a dream. Of Woobie.

Those of you who’ve read my Liebster post would already know a little about the dream, but I’m going to describe it a little bit more here.

I dreamed that Woo Bin climbed through my window into my room to visit me. It wasn’t my actual room, it was some other room, which had an attached bathroom but only curtains instead of doors, and he climbed into my room to cuddle and talk with me. In bed. Swoon. ❤

The feel was cozy and unhurried, and he put his arm around me as I laid my head on his chest. I think my face was resting on bare skin, and I remember slowly tracing his bare torso and leg with my hand as we talked. We talked about the hard times he’d had, and the things he’d had to bear with because he couldn’t afford certain things. I comforted him and stroked his leg and torso as we cuddled and talked some more.

Afterwards, I asked if he would visit me again, and he said that he would, as long as my window was open. That statement felt figurative as well as literal.

Most of all, I love how the cuddling and talking in bed felt. It felt so real and so intimate. Intimate, not so much in the sexy sense, but in an emotional sense. I loved that sensation. So melty and so swoony. So lovely. ❤

When I woke up, I was completely taken with the dream, but I wasn’t yet in love. Let me explain.

I think it’s important to mention that I’m an equal opportunity k-dreamer. What does that even mean, you ask?

Well, I have k-dreams fairly regularly, and while I do dream of my k-loves, I also often have dreams where random k-people show up, and sometimes, it’s romantic. Like, I once dreamed that TOP was my boyfriend and was driving me around in his car, and then he brought me to a secret exhibition that he’d prepared for me and surprised me with it. He also kissed me on the cheek. Lovely. I also once dreamed that Lee Byung Hun showed up on a motorbike and gave me a ride.

I know, I have some pretty cool k-dreams, don’t I? 😉

So, when Kim Woo Bin showed up in my dream, I didn’t think it necessarily meant anything. Boy, was I wrong.

Falling in Love Part 2: More Interviews & Variety

I loved the dream so much that I spazzed enthusiastically and endlessly about it with my friend Michele, in the midst of hunting out more interview & variety tid-bits on Woo Bin.

And the more I found out about him, the more he endeared himself to me. By degrees. Until I suddenly found myself in unexpected serious like with him.

I totally didn’t see this k-crush coming, since I pretty much was smitten purely with the bromance between him and Lee Jong Suk. It’s just that the more I ate up the bromance, the more I saw of Kim Woo Bin, and he just impressed me more and more.

I love that he’s the outward bad-boy with a ton of substance and affection. And I think I love him all the more because he crept up on me.

Usually I start crushing on an actor because of his role, and then as I discover more of his real self through interviews, I get (mostly) disillusioned and disappointed with his lack of personality and lose interest.

In Kim Woo Bin’s case, though, the only reason I’d been checking out BTS clips of him and watching him in variety, is because I wanted to see more of his interactions with Lee Jong Suk. And along the way, he snuck up on me and stole what turned out to be a pretty whopping chunk of my heart. And I love that.

By the end of that day, I was all, Ahhhh!! Kim Woo Bin, you lovely, lovely boy. I think I kinda love you. ❤

I dived headlong into more interviews and variety, and here are some of my favorites.

Interviews

I really enjoyed this interview that Woo Bin did for Sina.com. Again, he manages to come across as thoughtful, humble and genuine, which I love. I particularly love the bit where he addresses his parents and thanks them for believing in him:

I also really liked this clip, which shows how serious Woo Bin is about acting, and yet how modest he is about his acting ability:

Hwasin

I don’t follow Hwasin / Strong Heart 2, but watched episode 7 because Woo Bin guested, and what a lovely episode that turned out to be.

The topic of the day was the lies that men and women tell one another, and that led into a side topic of each individual’s struggles. The tone was honest and thoughtful, which I found really refreshing in the sea of competition- and gag-heavy variety.

Woo Bin was the youngest among the guests, and I loved that he held his own, while remaining respectful to his sunbaes in the room.

The honest sharing by everyone in the room was touching, and I was particularly moved when Woo Bin teared up while describing his early days of trying to make it as a model, where he often had to go hungry because he didn’t have money for food. Aw, poor baby..

Here are a couple of screenshots of Woo Bin during the sharing and discussion:

One of the highlights of the episode for me, was this moment, when host Kim Hee Sun asked Woo Bin how he would respond if his girlfriend were to say “I love you.” Without a moment’s hesitation, Woo Bin answered, “I love you too” while everyone else in the room squealed at how naturally it comes to him. Adorable!

I loved the entire episode, and I wouldn’t mind watching it again, even.

I couldn’t find a link for the episode on YouTube, but if you live in the US, you can watch it on DramaFever here.

And if you don’t live in the US, you can get ahold of the episode and subs files here.

Other Interview Snippets

Here are some links to various interviews that I enjoyed reading:

Star1 interview: “I want to be a good person” by Actor Kim Woo Bin here

The Korea Times: Crisscrossing Runway and Screen here

Cosmopolitan interview, September 2013 here

Translated article from CINE21.com here

Sports Seoul: 30 Questions for Kim Woo Bin here

Perhaps my favorite bit of all, is question 19, from the last link.

When asked “What do you want your girlfriend to be like?” Woobie answered, “I want to be able to learn a lot from her. As for looks, it’s fine as long as she is beautiful in my eyes.”

Omomo! How sweet is that?? Swoooonn~~ THUNK.

Head Over Heels In Love

By this time, I was head over heels in love with Woobie, and as all determined fangirls do, I set out to watch him in everything I could lay my hands on.

Uh-huh. Even Runway Cop:

Where Woobie’s appearance is so fleeting that if you blink, you might miss it:

I know. I wish I could find a better screenshot too. But that’s the best I could find, and I’ve already deleted my copy of the movie coz I don’t see myself watching it again, Woobie or no.

The Things I Watch for Woobie: White Christmas

I also resolved to watch White Christmas, despite my aversion to scary shows.

In my mind, I’d thought that White Christmas was a really scary show, since most people I know advised not to watch it alone &/or late at night.

Thankfully, it turned out to be a lot less scary than I’d imagined.

Another big plus was that Woobie was quite wonderful in it.

I really enjoyed Woo Bin’s portrayal of Mi Reu, who was intensely intimidating, affably adorable and badass brilliant all at the same time.

I loved how Mi Reu could, in the blink of an eye, go from this:

To this:

And yes, I loved the little flash of shirtless that we got as well:

The only thing I hoped was that Woobie didn’t actually have to make real cracking sounds with his jaw. Coz, badass as that made him look, I worried for his jaw. 😛

Here’s a quick taste of the Mi Reu awesome:

The Things I Watch for Woobie: Vampire Idol

Vampire Idol is a show that I’d originally wanted to watch based on the general good reactions that I’d read, about how it was a lot of campy, ridiculous fun. But after I heard that it got unceremoniously sliced in half due to poor ratings and that the series had a dangling ending, I’d given up the idea.

That is, until I fell in love with Woobie. That changed everything. Coz now I just had to watch it, sliced in half or no, and with lack of English subs to boot.

Thankfully, I can read Chinese, so I’m making do quite nicely with Chinese subs.

I’m not even halfway through the show as I type this, but I will say that it is lots of campy nonsensical fun, and Woobie is hilariously adorable at times.

I love that his character is a hopeless romantic, and falls in love with a bunny mascot because she gave him a present (a balloon, hee!) and took a photo with him. He doesn’t even realize that there’s a girl inside the mascot costume, and it’s all kinds of adorable and hilarious:

I’m going real slow on this one, so that I have fresh Woobie on hand even while waiting for his next projects to go live.

Yes, I’m going to watch Heirs, even if it turns out to be a stinker. [Edit: Yes, I watched it all. Review is here.]

And you can be sure I’m keeping my eyes peeled for Friend 2 as well. I mean, look at him, all sharp and handsome in that suit:

Squee!! ❤

A Growing Photo Collection

Of course, while all that drama watching was going on, I also managed to amass quite a lovely collection of Woobie photos, which I’ll gladly share a sampling of with ya.

I’m splitting them into several different looks, for our easy enjoyment.

Gentle Giant

One of the things I really like about Woobie is how his real-life personality seems quite shy and gentle. It’s extra fascinating to me, given that he basically made his name playing fierce bad-boy rebel types.

Fierce &/or Broody

Of course, we know that he’s fully capable of putting on his fierce or broody face when needed, and these are some of my favorites.

Sharply Suited

Perhaps one of my favorite looks on Woobie, is the sharp suit. It’s partly because of his height (6’2, or 1.88m, baby!), but it’s also a lot to do with how he carries it. And he carries it gorgeously well. I think I might hyperventilate just a little, if Woobie showed up in front of me in a sharp suit. Or melt into a puddle. Or both.

Although, 2 days after my first dream of Woobie, I had another dream of him, and he did show up in a lovely sharp suit. Not only that, he was my boyfriend too! Ahhh.. My lovely dreamscape, how much do I love thee, for bringing me Woobie? ❤

Gorgeous, gorgeous man. ❤

In Model Form

Of course, we can’t forget that modeling is a big part of Woobie’s career, and was what got him interested in acting in the first place. I don’t like every single thing that he has had to wear on the runway – they make him wear some really weird avant garde stuff sometimes! – but here are a few of his modeling shots that I do like.

Shirtless

One of the things I find quite fascinating about Woobie is that he used to be really, really skinny. That’s possibly part of the reason why all his classmates were disbelieving when he said in school that he aspired to be a model.

But Woobie’s worked really hard to beef up, and here are some of the results.

I’m looking forward to even more tantalizing shirtless pix, as he continues to work out and bulk up 😉 Goooo, Woobie!

Sporty & Athletic

Just a little more evidence of Woobie’s sporty side.. And I must say, those very firm biceps had me rather mesmerized 😉

Bromantic

Because bromance is such a large part of how I fell in love with Woobie, and because the bromantic photos are just so cute and so much fun to look at, here’s a nice sampling of Woobie-Jong Suk pix.

Adorable

Of course, Woobie can be plenty adorable on his own too.

I mean, just take a look at this face:

Love, love, LOVE. ❤

And check out the cute here:

Casual Candid

This is another one of my favorite sorts of Woobie pix: the candids. Or at least, the casual shots that appear candid.

It’s a mix of cute and cool, and I love it coz it makes me feel like I’m getting a closer glimpse of Woobie the person.

Gasp! Phone Invasion!

Y’know, despite my years of fangirling, no k-love has ever managed to make it onto my phone. Not even at the height of my fangirl love for any of my major k-loves.

I just thought it was, well, kinda undignified. Coz in my mind, that’s something mostly reserved for screaming teenage fans.. Or so I thought.

Ha. Watch me eat my words now, coz Woobie’s invaded my phone good and proper, and has usurped wallpaper status on a permanent basis. Just take a look at the various ones I’ve had so far:

Yes, I know. That’s a lot of wallpaper. And a lot of words to eat.

What can I say? I love having a little bit of Woobie gazing at me out of my phone at any given moment.

Can you blame me, though?

Look at that smolder:

And just look at that adorable smile:

Sigh.. Sometimes I think Woobie’s just plain beautiful.

Just look at this:

And this:

Melt, and melt.

Lovely, lovely Woobie.. In my dreamscape, you’re all mine ❤

EDIT: Speaking of dreamscape, check out our epic dream drama, starring the Woob here!

This is just amazing. Currently, Kim Woo Bin is my bias, and to be honest, he completely covered my radar after running man episode, The heirs. I was completely surprised by his image, which was took a 180. I was like what, what what????!! However, your blog was just, chocolately, desert, sweetness that had me giggling and, yes, squeling like the fangirl I was. I have to say, you have a talent for writing this, and even when I was reading about Kim Soo Hyun, whom for the oddest reason did not have me swooning O_O , even with all the charm dripping off him, I was infected with the fangirl spirit..slightly. That is to say, I certainly did appreciate him. So, anyways, I was overjoyed when I stumbled upon Woobin blog that had me in dreamland, and I want to say thank you for sharing your– ahem — love, (^_~)for him. Keep it up, because I am a FAN!!!!
PS: I’ll be sure to check out some of their other works, so thanks for including them in too ^_^

Eeeee!! More Woobie love in the house! 😀 Which is always a good thing, imo! ^^ I’m super happy that you enjoyed this post, shamimhakam!! And yes, isn’t Woobie’s RL personality so different from most of his screen characters?? He’s so often playing badass and fierce, that it was a huge surprise to me, to find that he’s so sweet and thoughtful and dorky in real life! He’s just soooo adorable, really. ❤

And aw! Thanks for checking out my k-love post for KSH even though you didn’t have any inclination to swoon over him! I’m really happy that it did help you to at least appreciate him a little more 🙂

Please, Shamim will do fine. The rest is a mouthfull even when I read it in my mind. I made this account for my school project, it stayed useless for like two years, until I stumbled on this blog. I had to go dig my password..that was fun. By the way, I couldn’t help but notice your certain love for men in a suit..I know those feels. I thought I was the only one, so that was another reason that made your blogs enjoyable. *sigh dreamly*. Could we see [if possible, sometime in the future] a special edition for all those gorgeous namjas in dramalands that look absolutely fine in suits? Oh, it would be just wonderful ~~~

You revived your account just for commenting on this blog?!??? 😀 That is so cute, and possibly just made my day! *grins from ear to ear* I’m super pleased that you’re woken your hibernating account and are putting it to active use now – it’s been great chatting with ya! ^^

And yes, I do have a serious soft spot for a man in a sharp suit. Your idea of a sharp suit edition of Pure Pretty is definitely intriguing, shamim!! Let me put some research into it, and see if we can’t make it happen sometime! 😉

yeah!…i love that Kwang-Bin tandem!…that duo explodes with laughter..of course because of the giraffe…the very opposite of Woobie…and seriously among their episodes i find their video-making epic!..especially the background music is by Rain’s LA Song….from what i understand it’s Woobie who starts to joke about it when they pass the street with graffiti and you can see Woobie hesitantly moving away when Kwang Soo take the joke seriously….the great part is when he came back and starts to dance with Kwang Soo and do some funny stuffs…they are adorable!…

I also love the part where in Kwang Soo cheated on the water game and led Woobie to do the same apparently Jong Kook finds out and complain…oh boy you can see the shame on Woobie’s face and how come he’s so cuuuuuttttteeee admitting their cheating part…. 🙂

Have you seen his first episode in RM with the Heirs cast?….i think i want to watch that only because of your dream boy…oh man i do find this lad so enticing….

and this is my first time seeing Rain doing a game show and i do love some of his scenes there with JongKook as well…i love the party bed scene…i thought Woobie will do the dance there with Rain but he didn’t join in…

i guess you’re right better to have as many as they are than having just enough!…but it’s so crazy k-dramas are popping like mushrooms!…and i have read some goody things about Let’s Eat…and one thing i like about that drama is because Yoon Doo Joon is in there…hahahaha!…there goes again my shallowness in drama watching!…i need to see eye candy!…he’s the leader of the kpop group B2ST..and i love some songs from them….but it is greater to know that the drama is a good one.. 🙂

Giggle. Yes, Woobie really is a shy boy at heart, so I’m not surprised that he didn’t jump into the MV tangent the way Kwang Soo did. I did love that he overcame his embarrassment enough to jive for a while with Kwang Soo, even though he couldn’t sustain it, LOL! XD

And yes, Woobie definitely felt embarrassed about the cheating bit.. I thought he handled it quite well though, simply saying, “We’ll do it again.” Aw. Diplomatic even when under duress. Smart Woobie ❤

Actually, I did see Woobie’s RM episode with the Heirs cast! That was cute. He was also in an episode even earlier than that, with Lee Jong Suk for S2013. If you haven’t seen it, I do recommend it. They are ADORBS together! ❤❤❤ Just seeing them interact together onscreen was enough to make my day, but there was genuine funny stuff too in the ep. I highly recommend it! That one was E138 🙂

Given my very limited kpop knowledge, I hafta admit that I don’t know Yoon Doo Joon. Let’s Eat will be my first exposure to him. Much like how I get to know most idols – through their drama crossovers, heh.

oh!…and i am sorry that i made the giraffe’s name to Sang Woo!..hahahaha….what’s with me?…it’s Lee Kwang Soo and not Kwon Sang Woo…aaaeeeiiissshhhh….. i really love Woobie in RM Australia…he’s not the jumpy type but you’ll be surprised on showing the cunning side of him just a bit… though….i felt that he’s giving way to his sunbaes since he’s the maknae of that episode.

I was taken aback by the ruckus made by the fans each time they pass the streets and how are they adored by the fans from the down under!…i find this RM episode so awesome and funny!..

and my drama watching?…..most of the time i work outside for the mean time so when i get home i’m already tired and couldn’t focus…i have to watch my drama on Saturday only coz that’s the only time i can do the marathoning……2 weeks ago i bought YFAS, Pretty Man, I Need Romance 3 and some K-movies….i bought YFAS coz i couldn’t catch it up to the net…and funny me i still have dvds of K-drama on queue…tbh,i haven’t finish TMS and R94 plus a friend gave a dvd of One Warm Word with Ji Jin Hee in there…do you have any idea of this drama?…i haven’t wiki it yet…my TBWL has been accumulating but i haven’t started any of it….tha’ts the sad part…;(( these are the dramas i want to watch:

    1. Let’s Eat
    2. Secret Love
    3. Inspiring Gen.
    4. 3 Days
    5. Golden Rainbow
    5. Suspicious Housekeeper
    6. Emergency Couple and more coming….You’re Surrounded….Hotel King…..Gap Dong…and from what i read there will be Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung tandem with the giraffe Lee Kwang Soo…?…oh my!….why are the entertainment industry in Korea is making so many dramas didn’t they know that it’s so hard to catch up on watching all of it?….hahahahaha!….

HAHAHA!! Yes, I did pause for a moment to figure out who Sang Woo was, evez! XD It’s ok.. I’m sure it was just the fangirl high messing with ya ^.~

Yeah, you can totally tell that Woobie’s a shy kinda boy, from watching him in RM. That’s why Mr. Extrovert Kwang Soo was so into the MV stuff, while Woobie’s all like, 0.o. Hahaha!! I cracked up so much, especially when he finally reluctantly joined in. Hi-lar-ious!

Wow, you’ve got a long drama list, evez! I’ve heard some good things about One Warm Word, though I haven’t checked it out myself. I’m definitely curious about it, though. And I do like Ji Jin Hee. He’s cute 😉 Be warned that One Warm Word is a melo, though. If you’re in the mood for fluffy and light, this would not fit the bill 🙂

I’ve heard quite a lot of positive buzz on Let’s Eat, so I’m thinking of checking that out soonish. After I’m done with YFAS and R1994. Heh. I am so behind on the drama cycle, seriously. Dramaland is churning out more drama than I can manage. But I suppose that’s better than not having enough drama? #silverlinings

Annyeong Chingus!…and how’s the lovely host of this blogsite?…how is everyone doing?…is everybody been busy watching kdrama lately?…well about me, i haven’t been in the dramaland lately i need to catch up the watching but i do managed to watch RM earlier and i am sharing it now over here…i found Sang Woo very funny!..especially with Woobie, there is this scene where in both of them made funny moment together…Woobie is quite a shy type and Sang Woo so funny… Woobie is extremely gorgeous despite being reluctant first to join with Sang Woo first on the video making game…they’re so adorable…<3<3<3

Yes, Woobie is gorgeous! And shy. Sweet, darling boy ❤ I thought the MV-making tangent was hysterical, honestly! XD Great episode of RM for sure, and definitely heavy on the budget too. Everything looked so expensive! Also! Every time someone spazzed out on the street over the cast, I felt proud of them, for being known and adored even far away from home ^^

As for drama-watching, I’ve been lapping up episodes of AM1994 lately, even though I was about in the last lap of YFAS. Maybe it’s a coping mechanism, to prevent YFAS from ending..? Lol. It’s more of a mood thing, really. I will definitely go back to YFAS, but for now, I’m in the mood for nostalgia. 10 episodes into AM1994, I’m enjoying it in spite of its flaws and randomly long episodes. Some eps are 1.5 hrs long! 0.o

Sorry to hear you haven’t been watching much kdrama, Evez! What have you managed to watch, and what’s on your List? ^^

aaahhhh, Woobie My Wuv! School 2013 turned this noona into a full-on fangirl for him and Jong-seok, but oddly, the drama that sealed the deal, put the nail in the coffin, so to speak, was Vampire Idol (this despite Woobie’s obvious rawness and the show’s own cheese). For two reasons:

    1. He isn’t playing a bad boy! His character is just so utterly, completely adorkable, and I love it when an actor just takes the goofy and runs with it, without a care for his image. And he really does.

    2. This is literally the ONLY drama so far, where Woobie has had a love interest, and actually got the girl. And they have adorable chemistry, which kept me hanging on all 79 episodes of the show wishing for skinship lol. It helps that said bunny is played by the wonderful and talented Lee Yubi, too. (to tell the truth, she was the real tipping point behind why I decided to give the drama a shot – I loved her in Gu Family Book, where she acted circles around the talentless Suzy – and I badly wanted to see her in something happy, and the fact that Woobie was her love interest did not hurt :))

And oh yea, that ‘I love you’ answer to the girlfriend becomes sweeter once you know that he actually does have a girlfriend in real life, and they’ve been together for over two years. I’ve seen pics and she’s just as unconventionally beautiful as he is.

Ahhh, shared Woobie love!! We have excellent taste, don’t we? ;D

Yes, I was super blown away by Woobie’s turn in S2013 – he was so, SO good, especially sparking off the natural chemistry that he has with Jong Suk. Those two together are just adorable awesome in a package. Uuumph! Such bromantic awesome goodness. I was SOOO bummed when Jong Suk couldn’t make it for the Running Man Australia trip. That would’ve been bromantic GOLD.

And I can totally see why you’d love his character in Vampire Idol most. It really is the role that’s closest to his real-life adorkability – so far. Jaime and I have been chatting on another thread on another post, and I had this idea for Woobie to play an adorkable, fiercely loyal, slightly dim jock. He’s a teensy bit slow on the uptake, especially in the romance department, but is fiercely loyal to his mom, his bestie, and his girl(-to-be). He has to be schooled by her in the romance department coz he’s kinda insecure and can’t convince himself to take a hint. So she has to flat-out tell him that she likes him back. And he’s shy. He doesn’t wrist-grab her, but gulps and shyly asks for permission to kiss her. And then kisses her so softly and gently.. GAH. Can you imagine the awesome????

I was inspired by this photo of Woobie, to play said adorkable dim jock:

And I’d love his love interest to be played by Jung Eun Ji, who’s so earthy and charming:

Gah. In my mind, this drama would be perfect. A nice foil to all the bad-boy roles that Woobie’s been getting, dontcha think? 😀

And yes, even though it stung my fangirl heart some to realize it, I do think it’s really sweet that Woobie’s been going strong with his girl for the last 2 years. And that he’s not afraid to say “I love you”.. Awwww. ❤

oh yessss, I adore Jung Eun-ji to bits and she’s had great chemistry with all her costars so far. There’s a part of me that worries that she registers as a we bit too young to really match Woobie’s usual smoulder, but that is a baseless fear since she’s held her own just fine with costars that age and she’d be beyond perfection for a love interest to the kind of Woobie-character you described, lol. Plus she can sell a romantic friends-to-lovers spark, and sell it GOOD.

Though my heart wants him to pair up with Lee Yubi again. Did you know she was up for consideration for School 2013 but had to reject it because her schedule for Nice Guy conflicted with early production for School? She was probably up for Park Se-young’s role and we all know the drama went the way of bromance anyway (and how! Best thing ever, no contest) but it’s still wishful thinking on my part that they might reunite one day. They really surprised me in VI, especially in the later episodes – like the one where he’s falling for her/finds out about the rabbit head, because WHOA intensity there!

Side note: the School franchise’s first 4 editions featured about half of Korea’s A-list stars of today. I’m thrilled to bits that with Jong-seok and Woobie, the 2013 edition did two more (and hopefully Park Se-young too, in time)

That’s true – Jung Eun Ji sells a friends-to-lovers sort of spark really well! I loved her in AM1997, but I guess what really gave me deep, deep luff for her, is seeing her in Barefoot Friends where she guested. I love her RL personality; she’s so earthy and charming, and seems to have a genuine enthusiasm for life in general. I caught a glimpse of her at the MAMA awards, and unlike some celebs who were obviously conscious of the camera and just putting up a front for the camera, she was just blithely and happily rocking out with whoever was performing onstage. I could not luff her more, after seeing how cheery and excited and genuine she was. And that’s why I think her brand of charm would be perfect in this dream drama of mine. Woobie’s adorkability and her earthy charm. Aw. I can just see it in my head ^^

Oh, I didn’t know that Lee Yubi was up for Park Se Young’s role in S2013! That would’ve been a bit of awesome meta, the reunion between her and Woobie. Although, Park Se Young’s character seemed to take more of a shine to Lee Jong Suk’s character in the show, lol. I actually haven’t finished VI.. I really should get back to it, I do enjoy it, and Woobie is adorable in it ❤

Y’know, before S2013, I had no clue that so many of today’s A-listers had their start in the School franchise. I’m super pleased that Woobie and Jong Suk have been doing so well, so soon after S2013. And Park Se Young is making a nice name for herself too, though not in as high profile a way as Jong Suk and Woobie have, with their movies and all. So proud of ’em. Especially the bit where Woobie and Jong Suk don’t harbor any competitive feelings about each others’ careers. LOVE that. ❤

I’ve never seen her offscreen apart from some variety show where she adopted a puppy (and all I paid attention to was the puppy), so literally all I have to go by on Eun-ji is AM1997 and That Winter (which I stuck with only for her and Kim Bum’s loveline, and to a lesser extent for the chance to drool over Jo In-sung’s tall, tall frame). She may not have great technique yet, but for an actress who is literally two jobs in, she’s got a good handle on emoting and has great screen presence and chemistry with her costars. I hope she’ll go far, because Answer Me 1997 certainly proved that she deserves to – people may run her down saying it was not so difficult for her to basically play herself, but when you consider that some idols/actors can’t even do that well……it is a skill, and she has it.

re: School 2013, they initially just cast their actors without actually assigning them roles. They got Jong-seok and Woobie but didn’t make any announcements about who was playing whom until after Lee Yubi passed up the role, and I remember the first announcement about Lee Jong-seok’s character said that he would ‘probably’ be playing an introverted character (ie Nam-soon). Given how last-minute kdramas can be about these things, half of me believes Jong-seok and Woobie actually just flipped a coin to decide their casting, haha. So we could theoretically have ended up with Woobie playing Nam-soon, and Jong-seok as his bad-boy ex-bff! **mind blown**. But I liked Park Se-young too, and also Hyoyoung, though my lone criticism of School 2013 was that the girls felt a bit…..underused. Ah, well. She has movies and she’s now going to lead a weekend drama, so I’m happy she’s getting work. I’m super proud of all my School kids, they’ve carried on the fine tradition of having good careers afterwards and I love that they’re friends.

So true, about Jung Eun Ji! She has a knack for coming across naturally onscreen, and not everyone can do that. Some people look stiff as boards onscreen, and their self-consciousness is so obvious. So the fact that can project so much easy warmth onscreen is definitely in her favor 🙂

Oh, I didn’t know that about the casting process of S2013!!! Woah.. I just can’t wrap my brain around the alterna-verse of Jong Suk playing Heung Soo and Woobie playing Nam Soon. *cannot compute* 0.o Just goes to show how well our boys played their characters in S2013. I just can’t imagine anyone else playing them now!

You’re right, the girls were underused in S2013. But because we got such glorious bromance, I feel like I can forgive the writers. They did manage to tease out layers and nuance in quite a few secondary characters, so I feel like overall the writing was thoughtful and carefully done. I do love how everyone on-set seemed to love hanging out with one another. If memory serves, Jong Suk actually remarked that on this set, people would hang out together even during breaks, which usually isn’t the case on other sets. Aw. Adorable.

I know, it’s kind of impossible to think of, right (re: casting)?! I’m not even that bothered by the girls in the long run, and I did love that they got a little bit of friendship focus too – so often, friendship is the thing that gets sidelined in all these melos and romcoms, and to have a series treating friendship as a thing that its characters live or die by……..is amazing.

I am really warming to this idea of Woobie and Eun-ji. He’s adorable when in comic mode, and if he ever does a repeat of dork mode, I will die. (especially if he ever gets a look on his face that is similar to the one he had in, I think episode 59 of VI when he was watching Yubi gush all over Soohyuk and is dying to tell her he’s a vampire himself lol. Jealous Woobie is hilarious beyond belief.)

Treating friendship as a thing to live or die by – you put it so perfectly, pogo!! 😀 That is EXACTLY what our boys did, and it was wonderfully gratifying to watch. I rooted for them so much, and was completely engaged with their bromance, more than a regular romance, even! Ah, the feels ❤

Oh, I haven’t gotten up to E59 of VI, but that sounds ADORABLE!!! 😀 I really must get back to it, I liked the campy nonsensical fun it served up. I stopped coz Heirs was giving me fresh doses of Woobie and I thought I’d save VI for later, and just haven’t gotten back to it. 🙂

omg I’m so sorry for spoiling! I thought you were done with VI which is why I went into episode numbers and all, but trust me, you have to get to Woobie and Yubi, because they have such good chemistry, it makes me squee (and again, it is my pet weakness – a friends-turning-to-lovers deal. ok, here they kind of are in the romance already, he just doesn’t realise it lol). And it may even make you feel a wee bit better for him and Rachel getting cheated out of their possible loveline, I know I’ve consoled myself with the thought of Yubi more than once, ha.

Only for them would I endure a series without subs, though there’s a FB group working on subs up to I think episode 45 so far -it’s called VampireIdolFanSub.

Hee. Don’t worry about it. Maybe it’s coz VI is such a campy, nonsensical show that the story spoilers don’t really matter as much as with other plot-heavy dramas. And maybe it’s coz I already knew a little about the story. I didn’t actually feel spoiled by that tidbit of information, even though it was new to me. 🙂 And yes, I totally do need to get back to VI and soak in the campy awesome!

You have serious Woobie love, to endure such a long show without subs!! I just saw that the fansubbing group released the subs for E49 & 50 – yay for everyone! That really is a labor of love. Not many long shows get subbed (ILICDD, anyone?), so the fact that more fans will get to see VI is just really awesome 😀

Wow you are full-on obsessed with Woo Bin, aren’t you?

I really really loved his character in Heirs – for a newbie, his acting was even better than Lee Min Ho’s, imho (and I do like Lee Min Ho). There was just something very gentle and broken beneath that wild, rebellious facade.

At first, I thought he look really weird, with those reptilian eyes and can’t-be-tamed eyebrows, but now that I look at him, he actually has a very beautiful facial bone structure!

Ah, you’re making me fall in love with him too! I hope he’ll get to act in more broken bad boy characters like Young Do – I just can’t get enough of his acting in this role!

    1. kfangurl

Tee hee. Does my obsession show.. that much? 😉

I am very much smitten, and with good reason. I found Heirs underwhelming, but loved the nuance and character that Woobie gave Young Do. I just can’t imagine Young Do in anyone else’s hands now. It boggles my mind to think that Jung Young Hwa was first slated to play Young Do! If you enjoyed Woobie in Heirs, you’d love him in School 2013. Have you seen that? Woobie is wonderful in it. Just nuanced perfection. I was super impressed. From a fairly unbiased pre-smitten perspective ^^

I’m so with you on Woobie’s looks. I didn’t take to his looks right away. I used to think he looked odd. But now I just can’t get enough of him. Now I actually love the oddness of his features. See, that’s what love does to you, LOL.

I’d love to see Woobie on my screen more, period. If I had a say in it, I’d have him play romantic lead. &/or a broody vampire prince. And I’d love him in a sageuk. And in a role that leans a little comic as well. Not all at once, of course. Just one after the other will do nicely. With a few breaks in between, of course. Can’t wear out the Woobs 😉

Uhmm Young Do all the way. LMH’s a pretty good looking guy but maybe because of Woobie being a model he has a good understanding on how to use his body and face to look really good and to stand out on camera. So I personally take more notice of Woobie and to be honest, no offence to LMH fans, LMH looks like a classically good looking guy which is a bit vanilla to me.

“how to use his body and face to look good and to stand out”…. this phrase reminded of a review I read about Chingu 2. The author found the sequel a letdown compared with the original because he found Woobie magnetic! hahaha! She (or was it a he, I’m not sure) said the character was not supposed to be magnetic or something. Whatever! I guess she was too distracted by Woobie’s presence. Hahaha!

Woobie is a sneaky bugger! I was streaming a bit of the SBS Drama Awards on NYE and the particular segment I watched was showing different clips from all the drama couples of the year. One of those clips showed a scene between KWB and PSH (or the 2nd female lead perhaps) in the Heirs and while the scene was playing they showed Woobie on the corner of the screen repeating lines just like in the scene being played. He was adorable and charming, gosh he is hard to resist now…mmm…I definitely want to watch Friends 2 now!

HAHA Woobie IS a sneaky guy!! I mean, that’s how I fell head over heels for him, and now, it looks like he sneaks up on almost everyone, pretty much! I saw that bit too, during the awards! (I don’t usually bother to watch the awards shows, but had to watch the SBS one for Woobie) Just like you, I found that bit super adorable!! Ahhhh!! ❤

Have you checked him out in School 2013, muffin?? He’s brilliant in there. And super adorable too, at times. And I am SO eager to watch Friend 2, I tell ya! But no subs yet, sob! :/

Lol I haven’t seen School 2013, kfangirl. I think I should watch it because I am also growing a soft spot for Lee Jong Suk… oh my fangirl heart is seriously about to burst. Aww no subs for Friend 2. I guess we hafta be patient.

Lol evez I’ve only seen 15 minutes of Heirs haha. I really lack the motivation to watch it but Young Do did look real good on a motorbike. I wish some would compile all of Woobie scenes, I would love to watch that. Have you finished watching the Heirs evez?

@chubbydimpledmuffin…15 mins.?….YES!…i did finish the 20-episode of Heirs religiously!…LOL…1 to 16 episodes i steam it over drama fever and the 4 remaining from a dvd copy that a friend gave me as Xmas present…i wasn’t able to finish the four remaining episodes from net due to a very busy skeds last December 2013….thank goodness that a friend gave it to me as a gift…..

          …weayo?….here are the reasons:

          1. The ever gorgeous Lee Min Ho – i love this k-hottie since BOF though it could have been better if his role in Heirs has given more depth and substance.

          2. The cutie Kang Min Hyuk- the drummer of CNBlue, who would ever thought that this cute young lad is a drummer and a charmer at the same time?

          3. The handsome k-hunk Choi Jin Hyuk-isn’t him so adorbs from the drama PAH and GFB?and not only that he looks handsome and has a great smile; he is also a singer…<3 with adorable big voice., though i love seeing him in a drama in a relax and lovable character than this one.

          4. The Sneaky and Full of Charms Kim Woo Bin-i guess everybody from this site will agree with me since day 1 when kfangirl featured this sneaky dude as one of his K-Love…and YOUNG DO ROCKS! <3

          5. OSTs – there are some OSTs that i enjoy listening to, you might want to try if you have time, y'know one of the important ingredient in a drama is OST and there are some awesome sound tracks i love and include in my playlist from this drama.

Those are my reasons above why i finish the 20-episode of underwhelming drama(as quoted by kfangirl) of Heirs.

You’re growing a soft spot for Lee Jong Suk?!? AND you like Woobie?!??? That settles it, Muffin. YOU HAFTA WATCH SCHOOL 2013. SOON. 😉 Even though it’s an ensemble cast and everyone has their own story arcs, it really is their show, in the end. The bromance is epic, and I got completely sucked in. And I didn’t even have soft spots for either of them when I watched the show. You will love them, I guarantee it! 😀 Brace your fangirl heart for the awesome!

And Muffin!! I shared this over on FB, but here it is again, just for you!

A condensed spot of Woobie awesome in Heirs, compiled from E1-10, all under 2.5 mins:

And if you’re interested to check out a fan-made alternative version to Heirs, with Woobie as lead, check out this FB page! They’re making mini eps by splicing Heirs footage together to make it all about Young Do instead. Woot! 😀

Lol yes evez, only 15 minutes. I was writing exams when it was airing and I was completely absorbed by KBS’ Secret so I didn’t have a lot free time. When I finished exams I just heard people talk about how they were underwhelmed by Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye’s performance but I did hear praise about Woobie, the Rachel girl and the idol actors but still I haven’t been in a real rush to watch it. The Heirs is just on my list for now… though your reasons 2-5 are definitely making me consider bumping Heirs up my list though if that’s a consolation, hehehe 😛 .

Okay kfangirl I will make School 2013 a top priority!!! Aww I feel special!! Thank you for all the treats, judging from the video that you’ve embedded I am going to thoroughly enjoy Young Do as the lead. Hooray!!!

YESSSS!!! School 2013 = top priority = Woobie awesome!! 😀 I just adore him in S2013. I’m sure I will adore him even more on the rewatch, since I’ve since fallen head over heels for him after watching the show! XD I plan on rewatching S2013 in early Feb, so if you’re watching roundabout then as well, we can squee together as we go! ^^

And definitely, you’d enjoy Young Do as lead. I mean, the rest of us enjoyed him plenty well when he was an underutilized second lead, so having him as the main focus can only be a good thing, I’m thinking! 😉 I hope you enjoy the watch! I watched 9 mini eps so far, and it’s rather fun to see the focus shift with the tweaks in editing. And, all the other filler stuff is minimized. I haven’t watched it to the end, so I can’t vouch for the whole thing, but I’m amused and liking it so far!

I think I will start with the Young Do focused story and then make my way to the real deal. My exams went alright thank you evez though it was hard to concentrate because all the dramas.

That would be awesome if we could squee together watching S’13! I’m sure I’ll enjoy the Young Do focused story when I start watching them hopefully by the end of the week.

and YAY! 😉 that you’ll be starting S2013…it’s a good one…not a common romance of a hunky lead actor and the heroine but you’ll get to adore the awesomeness of the bromance thing of KWB and LJS…so better to reserve a good time slot for that…and fighting on your drama watching….:)

Heh. Imo, there really isn’t a huge reason to watch the real deal.. Unless you’re a big fan of any of the other actors. And with the Young Do mini eps, you’ll get all the good KWB stuff already 😉

Giggle. I realize there are a number of us gearing up for either our first watch or a rewatch of S2013.. Now that I think about it, might it have to do with all of us having Woobie withdrawal after Heirs? 😀

😛 I’ll probably watch only the Young Do minis and read the recaps of Heirs. 😉

Haha He really knows how to capture an audience, hey kfangirl. ^^ He is definitely bankable!

Woobie is all over ent. news these days… like the heist movie that he has been casted in recently. I love a good heist movie! 😀

Wow i love your post! I’m so glad to find this! For me, i was in love with his character in heirs as choi young do! Even though he is a badass in the show, his lines are always so breathtaking and so sweet and cheesy! The way he expressed it is also like a professional! With that handsome face, sometimes flashing aegyo-ness and his smile that is so mesmerizing, i was really hooked.

So i went to dig out his interviews and watched school 2013. wow their bromance is so <3 i was like crying and laughing and smiling like an idiot in school 2013 with their sad story between heungsoo and nam soon. I'm currently watching vampire idol. and he made me laugh so much!! How can a guy be so cute! <3<3 now i am totally going gaga over him and going crazy. I'm going to support more of his shows now haha.

oh btw, is to the beautiful you worth it too watch? because i am thinking of watching it for the sake of handsome woobin (with that kind of hairstyle that makes him totally hot and handsome like infinity) but he appeared in ep 9 and 10 only. so i was considering whether to watch or not haha.

I just finished watching SBS drama award where he hosted the event. Seeing him giving his best for everything makes me love him even more!! Oh and he got the popularity award hehe that's our woobin <3 hope to see him get many more awards 😀

Hiyya, Shi Yun!! *waves madly* Welcome to the blog!! 😀 It’s always great to have more Woobie love in the house! He’s just so awesome, isn’t he?? 😀

I really enjoyed his acting as Young Do in Heirs, but my favorite role of his so far, is of Heung Soo in School 2013. The bromance!!! It’s so intense and so freaking good that I just could not get enough of it. The fact that Woobie and Jong Suk are besties in real life? Just, TOO GOOD, seriously!

I’m currently watching Vampire Idol too! I’m only about 17 eps in, since I paused it when Heirs came on the scene. Y’know, gotta save my supply of fresh Woobie & everything, lol.

TTBY is a fluffy, mindless, pleasant sort of watch. If you don’t expect too much from the story & the actors, it’s fairly enjoyable, and the plethora of cute couple moments the show serves up is quite addictive. Of course, the downside is that Woobie only appears in 2 eps.. But still. That’s 2 more chances to swoon at Woobie on your screen..! ;D

I haven’t finished watching the SBS drama awards, but I’ve seen a couple of subbed screenshots of Woobie bantering with his Heirs co-stars while onstage, and it’s just super adorable!

I am so eager to see Friend 2, but will have to wait till subs become available. I understand so little when it’s the saturi accent being used >.<

Hmm so it seems to be that my fangirl trajectory is completely aligned with yours–first GY, then JH, and now Woo Bin! Although, he’s no where near unseating GY at the top of the food chain, BUT. KWB as Young Do is completely doing some nasty things to me. He’s all over tumblr, and I can’t take my eyes away! I’m baffled by what exactly this is. I think it’s his raw masculinity reaching out frm the internet. I can’t look away but yet it kills me to look at him because he’s just so damn beautiful too. He’s beautiful in an unconventional way, or maybe he’s beautiful even though technically he shouldn’t be. If that makes any sense pffft. Sorry I’ve clearly got tumblr brain because I’ve lost control of my marbles and my ability to speak coherently. Such is the power of woobie…:/

Such IS the power of Woobie! I find him completely mesmerizing too! He’s got charisma and magnetic screen presence in spades. I just can’t look away from him.

And yes, he’s beautiful in a very unconventional way. He’s said before that he can’t believe someone as ugly as him is popular, which, pfffft. He’s gorgeous.

Our fangirl trajectories ARE identical! XD I hafta say, DDee, you have excellent taste in men 😉 First GY, then JH, and now Woobie, in exactly that order too! Although with me, Woobie’s definitely giving GY a good wrestle for being #1 in my k-loving heart ^.~

      1. DDee

Wha-?! GY is being challenged for the #1 spot?? Whoa. But I guess if there was a worthy challenger it’s the Woobster. GY is looking more and more ahjusshi hot these days, while the Woobs is erm, all ripe young hot-blooded male type of hot.

He has enough charisma to be on the big screen IMO. Wonder how he did in his new flick.

Also, I saw a video of him at autograph session and he was telling all the young girls not to wear makeup. Then when a college-age girl came up to him, he said wear all the make-up you want!! HAHA. Aiyyy SO CUTE.

        1. kfangurl

Uh-huh. The Woobster is a serious challenger, and he means business, yo. He’s not messin’ around, with the kind of mesmerizing awesome that he’s serving up! And. “Ripe young hot-blooded male” – those are words to swoon out a fangirl, seriously! XD And he is all that, and then some! Some of his latest magazine spreads have been extra alluring, and I am transfixed, a definitive puddle of melty swoon.

And YES, apart from the smoldering hawt, he is so cute! That remark about make-up is so him! XD I’m giggling just thinking about it.

Aw Woobie. You mesmerize me. ❤

Hee! I’m with you, tomtom!!! I think Woobie’s freakin’ beautiful too.. And so, SO talented and so, SO awesome! Ahhhh!! I LOVE THAT BOY. SO MUCH. ❤

Aw, what a fabulous dream you had there.. I totally understand how bittersweet waking up must feel. Like, it’s so awesome to dream it, but so bittersweet to wake up to reality and realize it was purely your dreamscape. I’ve burrowed back into my bed on more than one occasion, wanting to go back to my dream rather than wake up! XD

Have you seen School 2013, tomtom??? Woobie is just flat-out brilliant in it, seriously. And he gets so much more meat to work with script-wise, compared to TTBY and Heirs. If you haven’t seen it, I’d put it at the top of your priority watch list 😉 Coz a Woobie fangirl just HAS to have seen it, y’know 😉

Aw. His hair is making the news, isn’t that the cutest thing??? And, doesn’t that totally show how much he’s an It Boy now? 😀 I am SO proud of ma boy, seriously ❤

I find it hysterical that his hairstyle change on Heirs has resulted in a complete character change for Young Do, but at this point, I’m past caring. Woobie on my screen = a good thing. Regardless. Although, a good story and strong character development would’ve been nice. Heh.

..yeah!…the cutest thing!…and i’m sure you have watched e16 already!…seriously your boy is totally and incredibly adorable!…the way he carries himself in suit and coat with that smirk on his face = BAAAM!…story development in Heirs remain mediocre…though i love seeing Young Do doing some cuteness on his character…though like what you said…it’s lacking the story development that all characters fell under the undistinguished character advancement.

I just got caught up to E16, and even though I am still underwhelmed by practically everything else in the show, Woobje continues to blow me away with his nuanced delivery. He has so little screen time and yet he manages to break my heart in the little moments. ❤️

..that’s why it’s a good thing all those k-cuties were there!..LOL! if it wouldn’t LMH, CJH, KHN, KMH, KHS and of course Woobie i’m not gonna spend y time watching it…among the characters, my favorite of course is Young Doo second is Kim Tan and the 3rd goes to Kim Won….hahahaha!…now with those cuties? who needs story development?….kidding aside, it’s more brilliant if the writers did something wonder to improve the character development and the story-line…and good thing Woobie has helped the viewers enthusiasm to get hook on the drama!…LOL!

Y’know, the one good thing that has come out of Heirs is that everyone is noticing Woobie’s awesomeness. And it’s such a buzzy drama that heaps of people checked it out. The number of search terms related to Woobie that land people on the blog is increasing daily, and that’s just a small indication to me, of how Woobie’s popularity is just surging upward everyday. For that alone, I forgive Heirs. Coz my Woobie deserves all that recognition, and he’s so amazing for making even a flimsy script work out into a mesmerizing character that everyone can’t help but notice.

I SO LOVE the pix of him in the blue coat!! ❤ I hope he doesn’t get typecast too.. though I can’t blame the casting folks for thinking of him when it comes to casting bad-boy rebels, he’s so good at it! And I do think he’s making huge strides in his acting, making each character unique even though on paper most of them are fierce bad boys.

“I want to become the kind of actor who is able to make a person’s heart warm and cry” – Gah. He already did, in School 2013. Made my heart warm AND cry. Such a talented guy :’)

This blog post. . just <3 I have to be honest, I did not like him at first. You see, I had been tracking Heirs since they announced it and with all the teasers and pics and articles I noticed Woo Bin. This article came out about who's body is more sexy, Lee Min Ho or Woo Bin, And me since I am a hardcore Lee Min Ho fan, I was like "Who is the shmuck? He got nothing on my boo LMH." Didn't give Woo Bin any of my attention. Then 'Heirs' started airing, and Woo Bin suddenly caught my eye. His acting is freaking amazing. Whenever his on the screen, I can't help but stare. This sexy namja has stolen my heart. I have been watching Woo Bin's Cf's, reading stuffs about him, looking at hundreds of pics. . . -sigh- I just finished watching 'Runway Cop' and Woo Bin was on the screen for like 1 second and I just squealed like an idiot. I had no idea he was in it. I am going to be watching his other drama and movies. <3

Welcome to the blog, saffiie!! 😀 And YES ISN’T KWB AMAZING??? Sounds like he snuck up on you, a little bit like how he snuck up on me.. I realize he’s generally the sneaky one. At first glance, you pretty much just think he’s the odd-looking guy. But the moment you see him in action, you just can’t look away. He’s just so awesome at bringing the character to life, with so much nuance and sensitivity. And his screen presence is SO magnetic.. THUD. It’s hard to not look at him, the moment he appears on your screen!!

I can totally understand your desire to now see him in everything he’s ever acted in! I mean, I even watched Runway Cop for him! XD Although, if I’d watched Runway Cop NOT knowing he was in it, I can totally see myself squealing out loud like you did! What an awesome surprise! ^.~

My hands-down favorite role of Woobie’s so far, has to be his turn in School 2013. Flat-out brilliant. And the show itself is so engaging too. I second kaiaraia, and highly recommend it. Upside: SO much Woobie awesome. Downside: it’ll stir your appetite to see more of him being brilliant on your screen! And.. he’s still building that filmography so the number of shows is limited, which means we need to pace ourselves. Or just keep doing rewatches as he makes new stuff! ;D

Thanks guys. I’m so happy I found this site. And yes, boy did he sneak up on me and blow me away. Honestly, as much as a I love LMH, whenever he and KWB are in the same scene I can’t help but stare at Woo Bin.
It’s 2:30 AM and I just started watching School 2013. Woo Bin is my main reason to watch it as well as the bromance that you mentioned above. I love a good bromance. 😀 So much of Woo Bin to watch. . .so little time. Life is hard.

Eeee!!! 😀 You’re starting School 2013!!! I LUFF THAT SHOW!!! 😀 And not just coz of Woobie. The bromance arc is just amazeballs. And Woobie’s chemistry with Lee Jong Suk is just GOLD. He only appears at the end of E3, but it’s totally worth the wait. Can’t wait to hear how you find the show!!

I’m now keeping my eyes peeled for Friend 2. It’s done so well since it premiered, & I’m chomping at the bit to see how Woobie did. He puts so much care and thought in preparing for every role.. Did you know that he keeps a character diary for each character he plays? To help him really get into the psyche of the character and understand all the character nuances, like what caused the character to be this way? Or, given the character’s background, how would that affect him? Respect, seriously. ❤

I just started Ep. 3 and I freakin LOVE it so far. It’s different from other k-drama’s I’ve watched. I can’t wait for the bromance! <3

I've been reading so much good stuff about Friend 2 and I'm so anxious to see it! D: I hate having to wait! I'm sure Woo Bin was amazing in it. <3

You can tell how dedicated he is to acting just by that, you know? I'm sure Woo Bin is going to be a Hallyu Star, just watch. 😀

Ahhhh!!! Woobie appears at the end of E3!!! You’re almost there!!! *flails* I REMEMBER THE AWESOME, SO WELL!! 😀 The nuances he brings are really quite brilliant. He says so much, with so little, seriously. Just minor shifts in his gaze, and little twitches in his facial muscles, and you see so much of what’s going on inside his character. So. Good.

YES Woobie’s so dedicated to acting!! I really love that about him, that he takes it so seriously, and works so hard to do well. ❤ The director of Friend 2 remarked that Woobie always showed up on set having done a lot of preparation. Aw.. So proud of him ^^

And I’m sure you’re right – he’s lunging to the top of the hot male star tier among his peers.. His progress and sudden spike in popularity is pretty startling. Not that long ago, he was just that odd-looking guy playing rebellious teens. And how, he’s Kim! Woo! Bin! Eeeee!!! ;D

..i can still remember the previous discussions we have for Woobie months ago…oh my! officially Woobie’s title should be “Sneaky Woobie”…on how i remember saying this red gem steals the no. spot from GY among your k-love…as much as GY still is classic and still remain no. 1 from me, i couldn’t help notice this young rookie’s nuance,…the first time i saw this khottie i say, this k-hunk will go a long way…his popularity among fangirls is astonishing!…he is well notice not only of his good looks but acting capability as well …so.. i still stand on my belief that he can show more!…with good projects he can!…that’s how i see him kfangirl…count me in for that Hallyu thing either!<3

Oh yes, I do believe he’s going to go far 😀 He’s making such huge leaps in terms of his progress, popularity and reputation, in a relatively short period of time, and he’s not one of those actors who’s just all about the pretty. He’s so full of substance and talent that everyone’s just totally sitting up and taking major notice. And YES, I do believe there is more talent to be unearthed and unlocked as he challenges himself with new roles. And I can’t wait to see it! 😀

He manages to give Young Do more layers and nuance than what’s in the script, I believe.. I thought he did very well in E14! But you know me, I’m biased in Woobie’s favor ^.~

this will be the second page for sneaky Woobie eh?…did you know that his real name is Kim Hyun- Joong?…hahaha oh boy!…i love KHJ even before the BOF days…i just thought that what if he used his real name as screen name…this could be quite confusing for me….LOL…he opted to use Kim Joong then as a screen name but i’ts a good thing he changed it to Kim Woo Bin ‘coz i like it better…

Yeppers, sneaky Woobie alright!! 😀 He crept up on me & swept me off my feet, and now he’s creeping up on the rest of the dramaverse too, coz the number of search terms related to Kim Woo Bin that land people on the blog is increasing daily! So proud of my boy ❤

And yes! He debuted as Kim Hyun Joong, which was really confusing for people. Kinda like how there’s now a younger Lee Min Ho out there too, and people have to constantly qualify that this is a different LMH when referring to him. It was only on Vampire Idol that Woobie debuted as Kim Woo Bin, which I thought was a good move, since his character used his name too, and so everyone got to know him as Woo Bin quite well by watching the show! ^^ I do like KWB on him better.. Somehow it suits him. Or maybe it’s coz there’s already a very distinct Kim Hyun Joong in my head! ;D

Yep, he was still KHJ in White Christmas, right Kfangurl? If you check White Christmas in gooddrama, the name KHJ shows of KHJ the sunbae. hahaha.. And its really confusing. I wonder why they would even name a new actor the same accomplished name in the first place…. even if its his real given name.

Yes, and yes! Woobie was still KHJ in White Christmas, and yes, it’s extremely confusing when another actor debuts with the same name as a more established celeb on the scene. He probably should’ve gone with KWB from the start, but at least he didn’t wait too long to change it.

The younger Lee Min Ho is still sticking with his name, and I think it’s super confusing!! Maybe it’s coz they hope that the fame and mojo or the more well-known Lee Min Ho will rub off? 😛

It is super confusing. I don’t think the fame and mojo of the more well-known rubs off. Well, at least not to me. I just read an update on the upcoming show The Prime Minister and I and learned that the younger Lee Minho will be in it. And I’m not even intrigued who the younger Lee Minho is. hehehe

Agreed – younger Lee Min Ho should just pick a new stage name, immediately. Coz the other Lee Min Ho is just too well-known and will just overshadow him all the way.

I guess the complication is that young Lee Min Ho’s been around pretty much as long as the more well-known Lee Min Ho. Younger one debuted as a child actor in 1998 and has been in a whole bunch of stuff using the name Lee Min Ho by now, while older Lee Min Ho first appeared on the scene in 1997.

I guess it’s coz he’s already had so many film and drama credits with the name Lee Min Ho that it’s just a tough call to change it now.. Poor guy.
